Flower Collection There will be a collection this weekend for flowers to decorate our Church for Easter. Envelopes are available in the pews. You may make a donation in memory of a loved one.

Dear Parishioners, The Easter Triduum (Latin for three days) is the most ancient and central celebration of the Church’s liturgical year. The Church no longer considers those days part of Lent but instead has made them into a special liturgical season all its own. The three days recall Jesus’ Last Sup-per with his disciples (Holy Thursday), his crucifixion and death (Good Friday) and his resurrection (the Easter Vigil and Easter Day). Then for the fifty days of the Easter Season we bask in the joy of Christ’s resurrection and the promise that the relationship with God begun on earth cannot be stopped by death but will be transformed into new life with God forever. During those three days we immerse ourselves at home and at church in the most sacred memory of our relation-ship with God. The paschal mystery of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection is the heart of what God wants to tell us about God’s own self and about ourselves in rela-tion to God. As we remember Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection, we come face-to-face with the mystery of our own dying and rising. Yours in Christ, Fr. Mario L. Borges

Confirmation PGO F (Family Emergency Shelter Coalition)

Shelter Shuffle San Leandro Marina On April 28, Our Newly Confirmed Team

members and other wonderful parishioners will be partici-pating in the 21st annual FESCO Shelter Shuffle Walka-thon. This is FESCO’s primary fundraising event of the year and success depends on the participation of the com-munity - those who donate, walk, run, and shuffle – many with their dogs – around the paths at San Leandro’s Mari-na Park. Won’t you support us in our effort to help make a difference in the lives of homeless families and children? Our Newly confirmed will be outside of the church col-lecting donations for this event after all masses on Satur-day, April 14th and Sunday, April 15th. Thank you for all your support. Because of you, FESCO will continue to change lives and give families a place they can call home!

PARISH EASTER EGG HUNT! We invite all of our Parish Children to join our Newly Confirmed and our Easter Bunny for an Egg Hunt to follow the 9:00 Mass Next Sunday… Please follow the signs for age group locations and listen for the CCD bell to signal the start. Happy Hunting!

Sixty Plus or Minus Club Please join us in the Hall following the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Friday, April 6th. Our hosts will be Doug Paulo, Adele Jenkins, and Dolores Fry. Bingo will be played after the meeting.

LETTER FROM POPE FRANCIS THE “JOY OF THE GOSPEL” CONTINUED...

The Proclamation of the Gospel—#229

Unity Prevails Over Conflict

This principle, drawn from the Gospel, reminds us that Christ has made all things one in himself: heav-en and earth, God and man, time and eternity, flesh and spirit, person and society. The sign of this unity and reconciliation of all things in him is peace. Christ “is our peace” (Eph 2:14). The Gospel mes-sage always begins with a greeting of peace, and peace at all times crowns and confirms the relations between the disciples. Peace is possible because the Lord has overcome the world and its constant con-flict “by making peace through the blood of his cross” (Col 1:20). But if we look more closely at these biblical texts, we find that the locus of this rec-onciliation of differences is within ourselves, in our own lives, ever threatened as they are by fragmenta-tion and breakdown. If hearts are shattered in thou-sands of pieces, it is not easy to create authentic peace in society.

Fr. Terry’s Remarks— When I write this, when you graciously read it, we are living and breathing Gospel. If you or me don't Believe, then all OUR talk of higher and lower values is just speculation. Our Faith in Christ Jesus makes us open and recep-tive to Christ, who as we proclaim in Mass daily has made all things in Himself: heaven and earth, God and man, time and eternity, flesh and spirit, person and society. Interaction with our fellows is not just two bodies or minds colliding. It is Peace which is the core of the Gospel encountering Peace. We are not mutually reaching for our guns, we are exercis-ing the heart of the Gospel. When Jesus bowed His head on the Cross and murmured: “ It is finished”, he had completed his mission. When we seek peace and understanding, we are in union with Him.
