COFFEE & DONUTS in the Parish Center after Masses NEXT SUNDAY, AUG 7.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT for an increase in religious vocations is NEXT SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 11:45 – 12:45 in Church. Come, pray with us.
SECOND COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND is for the National Black & Indian Missions. Our support of this collection helps build the Church in African American, Native American, and Alaska native communities from coast to coast. Schools, parish religious education programs, and diocesan ministries depend on your generosity to help them spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ! SISTER SUSANNE IS FAMOUS! Be sure to pick up a copy of the August issue of the CATHOLIC REVIEW, which is available from the ushers as you leave Mass today. Do you remember the Woodstock rock festival of 1969? Sister Susanne Bunn of the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart does, because she was there, as a young nun. Also read about how Maryvale Preparatory School hosted a summer camp for kids with cancer. And get an update on the Scott quadruplets of New All Saints Parish in Liberty Heights. All four will attend Duquesne University in the fall. It’s all in the August issue of the Catholic Review magazine, available this weekend.
DISCOVERING CHRIST - This first segment is an inspiring faith journey for adults of all ages that will begin on Thursday, SEP. 29 at Holy Spirit and run for 7 weeks. Each week includes a shared meal, prayer, an
inspirational video and group discussion/reflection. There is no cost to participants. Each session begins at 6:00 p.m. and runs until 8:15 p.m.
To obtain more information or to sign-up, please call Mark Dubyoski at 443-829-6820 or email [email protected].
CATECHISTS NEEDED: We need catechists and catechist aides for next year. We would like one helper for each classroom. God will reward your generosity if you are willing to serve. Call Sister Susanne at 410-593-7163. SUMMER DRESS: Enjoy all your summer days. Beach wear isn’t appropriate for worship. For Mass, please, show respect for the Lord and dress appropriately. FOOD: We’ve discovered ants in the church. Please refrain from bringing food into the church. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are looking for a committee to continue serving the donuts and coffee once a month in the Parish Center. Anyone who would like to volunteer for this, please contact Christopher Gregory at 443-219-0550 or [email protected].
GREEN TEAM: We want to form a Care for Creation Team (Green Team for short) to start looking at all the ways we can have a positive impact on changing our environment and social order for the good of all. This team will take actions in the parish and the community. For example, change out inefficient light bulbs and electrical appliances in your home; plant native trees or gardens using native species; have an energy audit and make improvements; form a prayer group or circle for economic and sustainable environmental justice; walk to church rather than drive; use local produce
and products; join groups for park and community green projects. There are many more actions that will be evident to the team members. The first step is to join the Green Team. There is a poster and a sign-up sheet in the narthex. THANK YOU for your financial gifts that keep Holy Spirit able to spread the good news of God’s love. As we enter into the summer vacation season, we would like to remind you that your church offerings may be mailed to the parish. Another easy way to manage your summer stewardship is with Online Giving through your bank. Thank you for your continuing support during the summer months.
EMBRACING OUR MISSION CAMPAIGN: Please keep up your installments for your pledges. The campaign is almost over. If you’ve already completed your pledge but would like to make an additional contribution, please do it now because the need still continues. Remember 80% of all funds received are coming to Holy Spirit! You may participate in the capital campaign anytime. Embracing Our Mission envelopes are available in the narthex. Please take some and return in the collection basket at any time. DOWNLOAD OUR FREE PARISH APP at MYPARISHAPP.COM, or search your phone's app store for MYPARISH.
