A Prayer For Our Church Heavenly Father, in every age, you have been our refuge. Yet again and still, we stand before you asking for your protection on your Holy Church. We place our Church in your hands, for without you we can do nothing. May Jesus, our High Priest and true compass, continue to lead her in every thought and action to be an instrument of justice, a source of consolation, a sacrament of unity, and a manifestation of your faithful covenant. For the victims of abuse and their families, pour out your healing and your peace. For the leaders of your Church, pour out your Spirit to guide them and inspire their decisions. For those who have followed your call to serve you and your people in holiness, sustain them by your grace. For all the faithful who are searching for answers, embrace them with your love, restore their trust, console them with your clear Gospel message, and renew them with your sacraments. We ask this in the name of your Son and our Brother, and through the Holy Spirit, who lives and reigns with you forever and ever. Amen.

Prayer For A New Bishop Good and gracious God, You have always been present to your church giving it a Shepherd’s care. Our diocese has been blessed again and again with generous, wise and loving bishops. In your kindness, we ask abundant blessings be bestowed upon Bishop Conlon for the years he served the people of the Diocese of Joliet with the heart of a Missionary Disciple. We come once again in need of a shepherd. Send your Spirit to guide the deliberations that will lead to the appointment of a shepherd with a heart like your Son. We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
We are happy to announce that Holy Ghost is offering weekday and weekend Masses! Weekday Masses are at 8:30 AM, Monday through Thursday. Weekend Masses are Saturday at 4 PM and Sunday at 8 AM and 10:30 AM. Follow ing guidelines and work-ing within our standards, there will be a limited number of spaces available at the Masses, so registration is necessary. Please sign up by Friday 10 AM prior to that weekends' Mass. This is on a first come, first available basis. Please only sign up for one weekend Mass so that as many of our parishioners as possible may be accommodated. ****Face masks are mandatory.**** For all Masses and services, you will be directed to your pew upon entering. Please remain in that spot for the duration of the service. Guidelines and more information were sent out through the US Mail. You should have already received the letter. We are also offering 20-minute private prayer, as well as Morning Rosary, Monday through Thursday. Please click on the link to see times and availability and to register. Our Sanctuary Lamp Our sanctuary lamp is a 7-day candle that is always lit above the tabernacle. If you would like to contribute $20 to the cost of the weekly candle we will include an acknowledgement in the bulletin. You are also welcome to make the donation in memory of a loved one. You may mail your request with your contribution to Holy Ghost Church at 254 N Wood Dale Road, Wood Dale IL 60191. Names will be printed in the bulletin in the order in which they are received.

Compassionate and Loving Father, In the face of confusion and concern impart to us the calm of your presence. In You allow us to find hope and healing. Be with those who serve the sick and give them Your caring hands. Be with those who lead and give them Your Spirit of wisdom. Be with those who have fallen ill and give them Your comforting heart. Wrap your arms around our world and hold us in your love. Allow us at this time of trial to then serve as instruments of that love to all we meet. We ask this in Your Name. Amen.
Prayer for Fathers God and Father of all creation, we come before you today with humble hearts. You are our model of a loving father. When we fail and fall short of your expectations, you are always there at the end of the day with open arms, ready to heal the cuts and scrapes of the day and to encourage us to try again and not to give up. We hold up these men in our midst who act in the world as fathers to their children or models of fathers for others. Bless them in their moments of doubt and frustration with their children. Give them warm and open hearts to forgive failures. Provide them with the words needed for encouragement and perseverance. We ask all this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Father's Day Blessing Single fathers usually sit in the back row of their children's school performances. Fathers who are married usually sit as close to the front of the audiences, with their spouses. Why is this? Well, we all know how important mothers are to the well-being of a family. However, we as a culture look at single fathers with a bit of suspicion. Fathers are as important as mothers are, but offer a different perspective on life and bring a much needed role in bringing up children. Let us welcome all fathers today to the front row of our lives and acknowledge how important they have been, and continue to be in our lives. Let us pray... Gracious God and Father, our first father, You are the One who has brought us to life in this world you created. You created us and everything around us. We turned away from you and only after disappointing you did we return your love. Look with favor on our earthly fathers. They helped create us in your image. We have disappointed them, but have come to realize just how important they are to us. Bless all our fathers, living and deceased, with comfort and health. We bring all their needs to you and ask for strength so they may live worthy lives. We ask all this in the name of your Son, our model of what it means to reverence our fathers. In Christ's name. Amen.
GOSPEL MEDITATION
There are many things of which we can be afraid: being rebuked, rejection, anger, being challenged, having to defend ourselves, standing alone, insecurity, failure, and even death. For some, identifying and overcoming their fears is a daunting task. Regardless of how much they may want to break the cycle of fear, they find that they remain close friends with old and dysfunctional behavioral habits and norms. Maybe what they really fear is change. There are many who gravitate to the familiar and comfortable, and find safety and security in doing so, even if they remain mired in mediocrity. Human beings have to learn that there is life beyond the “what has always been” and that happiness and depth are possible when old structures and systems have to be left behind.
Can you leave the near and dear, the comfortable and familiar, the safe and secure, and discover new opportunities? The shear thought of doing so can bring on feelings of apprehension, intense anger, resentment, defensiveness, reluctance, resistance, and even apathy. If we have to be responsible for making the change,
cowardice can creep in. If someone else is to blame for making the change, any number of possible negative reactions are possible. In the end, only one thing is required and that is God. If I can rely on and deepen my relationship with God, especially in the Eucharist along with a community of believers, then little else is of great concern. We have to figure out what is really important. It is not always what we think.
The Gospel calls us to stretch ourselves and try new things, not to remain stuck and stagnant in familiar ways. We are asked to live life more deliberately, radically, and intentionally. We are asked to leave the familiar behind and learn to live with changing, and often limiting, human structures. We cannot get too caught up in the physical, ideological, or structural systems we are used to. The Holy Spirit always leads and guides us. If we trust this, we will find ourselves doing things we never thought we could do. Always seek the path to joy and love. They keep us from falling victim to our fears and from seeking the nostalgic crutches we think we need to achieve a sense of well-being and happiness.

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS
Will You Say Yes? You find yourself in the difficult situation of being accused of blasphemy and confronting possible execution. Your crime is believing in Jesus Christ. The question is then asked of you, “Are you a Christian, a follower of the one named Jesus Christ?” Your answer may very well dictate what happens to you next. What is your answer?
It is probably easier to answer this question when the scenario is make-believe. All of us want to believe that we would say yes to the question of belief in Jesus, but strange things happen when humans panic in the face of extreme stress. As we reflect on what we would say, there are those all over the world who are being asked that very same question.
It is a question that was asked of many in the first centuries of the Church. Those who respond “yes” are considered martyrs and saints.
We might not usually think of all this in terms of good stewardship living. However, our faith is also a gift we have received from God to cultivate, grow, and share with others. The more interesting question than the one posed above is, “Would an accuser even think of asking you such a question?” Would you have cultivated, grown, and shared your faith enough that anyone would even consider you worthy of asking the question? They might assume you don’t know Jesus Christ at all. I don’t like conflict and do not seek out conflict, but I would rather someone ask the first question posed than assume there is no reason to confront me in the first place.

Sunday’s Readings: First Reading: “Sing to the LORD, praise the LORD, For he has rescued the life of the poor from the power of the wicked!” (Jeremiah 20:13) Question: We hear how the prophet Jeremiah turned to God as he struggled mentally and emotionally to remain faithful to his call. When do you find yourself turning to God in prayer? Psalm: Lord, in your great love, answer me. (Psalm 69) Second Reading: But the gift is not like the transgression. For if by that one person’s transgression the many died, how much more did the grace of God and the gracious gift of the one man Jesus Christ overflow for the many. (Romans 5:12-15) Question: Paul speaks of Adam and Christ to describe God’s gift of salvation to all who believe. What do you find compelling in Paul’s argument? Gospel: “Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.” (Matthew10:32) Question: Jesus forewarns his disciples that following him will involve risks and even persecution. Where do you experience risk and/or ridicule as a person of faith?

The Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus is seeking a full-time Director of Music. The Cathedral is the liturgical heart of the Diocese of Joliet, located in the collar counties just West and South of Chicago. The Cathedral parish is a large vibrant community consisting of over 2200 families enriched by a 100+ year proud heritage. Preferred candidate will have a degree (Master’s level preferred) in Organ/Keyboard, Sacred Music, or equivalent experience. The candidate will accompany, lead, and prepare appropriate music for parish liturgies that involve multiple choirs, ensembles, and instrumentalists. Parish liturgies (4-5 per weekend) would need music choices that promote the full and active participation of the Assembly. The candidate needs to be able to embrace the full breath of the Church’s sacred music from the most traditional hymns to contemporary Catholic music. The parish responsibilities include weddings, funerals, sacramental liturgies, weekly grade school liturgies, and holy days. The job is primarily parish focused. Depending on the skill set and strengths of the candidate, the offer may include both parish and diocesan liturgies. The candidate must be a practicing Catholic, able to work well in a collaborative environment, and be comfortable empowering others in ministry. The Diocese of Joliet is seeking a Building Manager to provide management and leadership for maintenance, cleaning, security, and conference center groups at multiple diocesan locations. The Facilities Manager will be in charge of day to day management of employees and implementing policies and procedures that will assure well-managed and well maintained facilities. Individual must be able to maintain a positive work atmosphere at all times. Must be safety minded, physically strong as well as physically active.
A bachelor’s degree in facilities management or related management field preferred; OR at least 7 years of facility management experience including at least 3 years at the level of facility manager; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Applicants must also possess: Strong computer skills and ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and advanced Outlook skills, excellent interpersonal skills required and skill in both verbal and written communication. Experience with energy efficiency and sustainability practices. Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles, knowledge of building automation systems, knowledge of facilities planning and management processes and procedures and knowledge of building and life safety. Must be safety minded and must be able to climb roofs and steeples, as well as access crawl spaces and must be capable of the repeated lifting of 50 pounds and moving/setting up tables for meetings.
