LISTENTOJESUSANDTHEPROPHETS Prophets have always had a tough row tohoe. Theirwords, often unwelcome, are usedagainst themtopersecuteandevenkill them.Suchwas the fate of the Old Testamentprophets, and Jeremiah is a great example ofthis. Jesus endured opposition from sinners, anddidnotturnbackfromashamefuldeathinorder to rise to a glorious new life. Theultimate prophet, Jesus sought to warn thepeople of his time and ours of the divisionsthat hiswordswould cause, showing himselfto be the prophet of all time.We all need tolookatourdivisionsanddilemmas in lightofJesus’ teachings and warnings, and seek tounderstand all that he has proclaimed andtaughtaboutwhatwillhappen if we fail tolisten.
