SURE HOPE
Hebrews 6:10-12
God is not unjust; he will not forget your
work and the love you have shown him as you have
helped his people and continue to help them. 11 We
want each of you to show this same diligence to the
very end, in order to make your hope sure. 12 We do
not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those
who through faith and patience inherit what has
been promised. NIV
God has made it possible, through Jesus
Christ, for us to have a truly rich relationship with
Him. But the richness of this relationship can’t be
enjoyed if our hearts are held back by indifference
or inactivity. Loving God is an energetic process,
and love’s rewards come to those who are reaching
forward. May we leave behind anything that weak-
ens our love for God — and anything that limits our
ability to receive God’s great promise.

Is this a Biblical principle? Does changing of oth-ers begin with self? Much of what Jesus said was pointed at the individual’s need to change. When a group of indi-viduals make an effort to change at the same time, great things happen. Consider the Church at Thessalonica.
1. They imitated Paul and the Lord. 1 Thess. 1:6
2. They received the word during persecution. 1 Thess. 1:6
3. They became an example to all believers in Greece. 1 Thess. 1:7
4. The word of the Lord sounded from them in Greece and beyond. 1 Thess. 1:8
5. They turned from idols to serve the living God. 1 Thess. 1:9.
The word of the Lord sounded out to others be-cause they turned, to be closer to Him. When the Thessa-lonians changed their attitudes and actions to obedience to the Gospel, they influenced change in all surrounding areas of their lives. So, we can influence others to change by beginning with ourselves. Let us be determine to work on ourselves so that we can become more Christ like in our lives that people will see Christ in us. As we change the change can spread to all we come in contact with. Todd
