    BEFORE & AFTERITS ESTABLISHMENT:

  • I I . THE CHURCH OF CHRIST AFTER ITS ESTABLISHMENT: A. The growth of the Church of Christ in Jerusalem;

    1. They were at one heart & soul (Acts 4:32). 2. From 3,000 ( 2:41), they grew to 5,000 (4:4), to multitude (5: 14), and then increased more and multiplied

    (6:7). 3. But Saul persecuted the Church in Jerusalem (8:1-3).

    B. The Persecution of the Church of Christ in Jerusalem: 1. Saul staged a great persecution against the Church at Jerusalem (8:1). 2. He even slaughtered some of the disciples and extended the persecution to other places (9:1-2)

    C. The Expansion or Growth of the Church of Christ: 1. Because of the persecution, the Christians were scattered in Judea and Samaria (8:1). 2. Those who were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the “Word” (8:4).

    D. The Conversion of Saul and his dedicated life in the Church of Christ: : 1. Saul was converted (9:1-18). Later, was called “Paul” , established many Churches in different places

    (Acts 13-28). 2. Paul was then also persecuted (2Cor.11:23-28), and then executed in the name of Christ (2 Tim.4:6-7).

  • A. The Worldwide-severe persecution against the Church of Christ: 1. Emperor Nero Claudius Caesar (37-68 A.D.) severely persecuted the Christians during his time (History). 2. The Romans totally destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD under Roman General Titus (History). 3. Emperor Caesar Domitian Augustus (81–96 AD) continue persecuted the Christians (History). 4. He exiled John in the island of Patmos for his testimony of Jesus (Rev.1:9).

    B. The Book of Revelation and the Church Of Christ: 1. The Book was written by John, in 96 AD. It is the last book of the Bible. 2. The book tells about the hard persecution of the Christians under the Roman Empire! 3. The book in symbols, including Dragons, the Anti-Christ, the Beasts, the harlot woman, etc. were all

    pictures of how the faithful Christians suffers from the powerful Roman State that brought severe persecution and martyrdom to many of them (Chap.1-18).

    4. But at the outset of the war, God showed the final outcome. The Saints will be victorious with Christ (Chap.19-20)!

  • A. What will happen to the Church of Christ?: 1. Jesus said; “They shall kill you…”(Matt.24:9). But, NOT all will be killed! 2. Paul said; “ In the latter time some shall depart from the faith” (1 Tim.4:1). But NOT all will depart the

    faith! 3. Paul said; “There comes a Falling Away…” (2 Thes. 2:3). But NOT all will be fall away! 4. A local Church can be disbanded, but the Universal Church “shall never perish” (John 10:28)!

    NOTE: In short, hindi totoo na ang Church Of Christ ay naitalikud at lubusang nawala para maitatag muli!

    B. Some FACTS about the Church of Christ; 1. The gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matt.16:18). Means, pinuksa man pero hindi napatay lahat! 2. Christ cannot be a King without a kingdom (Col. 1:13). His kingdom shall never be destroyed

    (Dan.2:44). 3. Christ is the head of his body, the Church (Col. 1:18). There is no head without a body! Or else;

    “Aswang”! 4. Christ is the groom and the Church is his bride (Eph.5:23-25/2Cor.11:2). Christ was never a widower! 5. Christ said; “ I am with you always even unto the end..” (Matt.28:20). Paano siya makisama sa Wala?

  • A. How the Church of Christ had reached “Unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8)? 1. By the “Seed” that has been planted. The seed is the word of God (Luke 8:11). 2. By the preaching (Rom. 10:13-14), of the Word (2 Tim. 4:2), of God (Heb. 4:12).

    a. Written by holy men (2 Pet. 1:21-22), inspired by God (2 Tim.3:16-17). b. Thus, to add or subtract of what was written is both punishable by God (Rev. 22:18-19)!

    B. The Start of the Church of Christ in the Philippines; 1. March 16,1521 when Philippines was discovered by Ferdinand Magellan. They landed in Cebu to

    Christianise everyone. Raja Humabon and his wife-Juana were converted and baptized into the Catholic Church. They want to go next to Mactan but Lapu-lapu and his men met them in the shore. They fought and Lapu-lapu killed Magellan!

    2. Protestantism developed in the Philippines after the Spanish–American War when the United States acquired the Philippines from the Spanish with the 1898 Treaty of Paris.[1] Under American rule, the Catholic Church was disestablished as the state religion, giving Protestant missionaries more opportunities to enter the islands.

    3. Many stories about how the Church Of Christ started in the Philippines but we can count as one start through the late bro. Diosdado P. Menor and bro. Leoncio Adap who were among the converts at Mindoro in 1927 by Mr George Benson, an American Preacher from California, USA. The late brothers Victorio Tibayan, Sr. and Ben Cruz of Manila could also give us more details but unluckily they were now first gone with the Lord!

    4. Reports said that In 1950’s and 60’s, many local Churches of Christ already are existed in the Philippines. Growth continues in the 1970’s to 1990’s! More progress in the year 2000 but divisions already marked!

  • A. Some kinds of Churches of Christ now in the Philippines; 1. There is only one glorious Church of Christ (Eph. 5:27). 2. But some members speak perverse things (Acts 20:31), and “They went out from us” (1Jn.2:19); 3. They teach false doctrine (2 Pet. 2:1), and not abiding in the doctrine of Christ (2Jn.9-11). 4. We must mark and avoid them (Rom.16:17-18). They still call themselves as;

    a. Church of Christ but identified as “Liberals” . b. Church of Christ but identified as “ Institutional” . c. Church of Christ but identified as “ Instrumental” . d. Church of Christ but identified as “Premillennial” . e. Church of Christ but identified as “One Cup”. f. Church of Christ but identified as “Mutual Edification” (M.E.). g. Church of Christ but identified as “One Covenant” . h. Church of Christ but identified as “Pro-divorce”, “Pro-Abortion”, Pro-same sex marriage”!

  • CONCLUSION: A. Christ is coming back to get His Church (Jn.14:1-3), and deliver his kingdom to the father (1Cor.15:24)! B. We must be a member into the Church of Christ by being baptize into Christ (Gal. 3:27). C. We must do the Father’s will (Matt.7:21) and abide only in the doctrine of Christ (2Jn.9-11). D. We must endure all trials, stay faithful until death to receive the crown of life (rev. 2:10).

    THE HOLY BIBLE

  • There is

    coming a day!

  • There is coming a day,

    When no heart aches shall come,

    No more clouds in the sky,

    No more tears to dim the eye,

    All is peace forever more,

    On that happy golden shore,

    What a day,

    glorious day that will be.

  • What a day that will be,

    When my Jesus I shall see,

    And I look upon His face,

    The One who saved me by His grace;

    When He takes me by the hand,

    And leads me

    through the Promised Land,

    What a day, glorious day that will be.

  • There'll be no sorrow there,

    No more burdens to bear,

    No more sickness, no pain,

    No more parting over there;

    And forever I will be,

    With the One who died for me,

    What a day,

    glorious day that will be.
