The appellation Cheverny produces elegant red wines made from the Pinot Noir and Gamay grape varieties. It also produces fruity white wines from Sauvignon and Chardonnay. You will particularly appreciate the appellation Cour- Cheverny, an amazing white wine produced from romorantin grapes, imported to the Loire Valley during the reign of François. Sit down for lunch in a traditional restaurant with regional specialties, salads, meats, cheeses, and dessert. After five short minutes we arrive in Cheverny for a visit to its château, still privately owned, having belonged to the same family since the thirteenth century. The Marquis Hurault de Vibraye brings life and warmth to the château with one of the most beautiful furniture collections in the Loire Valley. The château that inspired Hergé’s Marlinspike Hall is also famous for the tradition of hunting, and an impressive pack of a hundred hounds is fed daily in a ritual that has to be seen to be believed ! THE ESTATE OF CHAMBORD. We arrive at the Estate of Chambord , a national hunting reserve with a surface area equal to the entire city of Paris. Chambord is a unique monument of architecture and proportions, commissioned by King François I. Leonardo Da Vinci almost certainly participated in the development of plans for the monument. This château, with its 400 rooms and famous double staircase, is one Loire Valley castle not to be missed. At the end of the tour, your guide will take you back to the railways station or Tourist Office, either in Amboise or Tours.
