Campers and counselors went back in time on Throwback Thursday Dress-Up Day! The many outfits from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s brought back fashion trends including tie-dye, bell- bottoms, disco suits, track suits, leg warmers, leotards, headbands and beyond! Campers and counselors alike all loved rocking their throwback styles. Don’t forget to return to The Ranch for BINGO and movie night tonight! Come anytime after 6:15 p.m. with a picnic dinner and play BINGO starting at 7 p.m. Despicable Me 2 will begin at dusk. BACK TO THE FUTURE… George and Marla re-enacted their characters of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans yesterday during Throwback Thursday! They founded Coleman Country in 1982 with a western theme, symbolizing the carefree days and exploratory spirit of that era. “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It!”

Picture perfect smiles are all around The Ranch! After a wonderful holiday weekend, campers were back and ready for more. On Tuesday, they posed with their groups and in individual shots in the Outback for Picture Day! Photos will be sent home with your campers soon.

With this hazy, hot, and humid week it was truly a great time to test out our water cannons! Throughout the week, we set off the water cannons for campers to savor and stay comfortable while passing through the main fields. Since these times are spontaneous, the surprises elated campers as they delighted in the fun between activities.

We could not have asked for a better day to get Wet ‘n’ Wild on Wednesday! Filled with inflatables, slides, water mats, and mazes, the Swimmin’ Holes were transformed into a special day on the pool deck. It wouldn’t have been a complete Wet ‘n’ Wild day without the talents of “DJ Torto” playing the hottest hits of the summer!

JUMP IN, JUMP OUT, INTRODUCE YOURSELF...The boys of P5-2, along with Anna, were showing their performance skills as they serenaded their fellow Pioneers during morning line-up!

The Pioneers are “Alive, Alert, Awake, Enthusiastic” as they begin Summer 2014 learning songs and skills that will last a lifetime! This week, the Pioneers have taken turns as groups singing “Jump In, Jump Out” during morning line-up. This song is a wonderful way for each child to be able to introduce himself or herself! These interactive moments in our youngest campers are just the beginning of the growth and learning they will experience, all while having the times of their lives throughout the summer!

In addition to singing together, the Pioneers are also thrilled to be working on other skills such as athletics, arts & crafts, and swim. They all are eager to show their many talents at Parent Visiting next week!

If you’re ever looking to learn a new catchy tune, there’s no doubt that the Scouts know a few! The ever so popular songs like “Guacamole” and “Pizza Hut” are now joined by “Banana Man”.

Special for Throwback Thursday, a new rendition of the song “B-I-N-G-O” was revived in the new “B-O-D-I-E” version. “There was a camp who had a dog, and Bodie was his name oh - B-O-D-I-E, B-O-D-I-E, B-O-D-I-E, and Bodie was his name oh.” We are sure you will be hearing these songs all summer!

GOING BACK IN TIME...During the “B-O-D-I-E” song, campers of B1-1 and G1-1 (from left to right) Zachary A., Addison C., Charlotte F., Averi T., and Sean H. joined for a photo opp with Bodie in his “Elvis Hound Dog” throwback costume, along with Ross as “Zack Morris” and Kelli as “Kelly Kapowski” of “Saved by the Bell.”

I’m the Banana Man, I go up the tree I go down the tree, I go home for

my tea I’m the Banana Man, I drink my

Coca Cola And I play my rock and rolla, down

by the sea EVERYBODY LIKES BANANAS

OH YEA!

Nothing Could Be Finer Than To Be a 49er! “Oh Yeah”

Get ready to dress in the SILLIEST outfit you can put together! BIG hair, mismatched clothing, and fun

accessories will take place of Coleman Wear as both campers and counselors dress-up for Frivolous Friday

on The Ranch, July 18th!

The 49ers continued the Margie Invitational Bowling Tournament in the beginning of the week. The tournament concluded on Wednesday with the championship. All groups displayed positive sportsmanship and encouraged each other through their actions (M.A.C.H.O)! Great teamwork was also displayed as the 49ers created teams and participated in the Paul Invitational Tennis Tournament. In addition to the P.I.T., the Gary Invitational Tournament (basketball) started this week!

On Tuesday, 5th graders enjoyed a great experience at the Long Island Ducks night game which ended in a victory! To wrap up a fabulous week, campers 6th graders enjoyed a fantastic Friday at the beach with some more fun in the sun!

Explorer Visiting Nights

TIME TO

BE FRIVOLOUS!

GIANTS, WIZARDS, AND ELVES...The ladies of G3-4 reveled in an afternoon game of “Giants, Wizards, and Elves”! This interactive game is an interesting twist on “Rock, Paper, Scissors”!

Scout Visiting Nights

THE MIB CHAMPIONSHIPS...G5-3, G6-2, G7-1, G8-2, B5-3, B6-1, B7-1, and B8-2 were the respective champions of their grade. The overall victors were the ladies of G8-2 and the gentlemen of B5-3!

Each morning at line-up, the Explorers have a “word of the day” that signifies something important or special happening. Whenever the Explorer campers hear the “word of the day” they cheer in excitement! Today’s word is “excellent” which represents the “Excellent Coach of the Week” chosen today during intramurals. Counselors who exemplify outstanding leadership are given this honor.

Today the B3 and B4 head counselors held a “Lip Sync Battle Off”! The B3 counselors were “One Direction,” and the B4 counselors were “The Backstreet Boys”. The Explorer division decided the winner by a cheering vote.

To end each day with something to reflect upon, at Roundup Susan and Dimitri ask the Explorers how they have been “M.A.C.H.O.” that day. Before they could even finish asking the question, many campers anxiously waited with their hands up for their names to be called. This practice helps us reinforce our summer theme and reminds us that our actions can help others!
