THE CHANCERY LANE LIBRARY, KING’S COLLEGE LONDON

This drawing by the architect Sir James

Pennethorne shows his design for the

entrance tower of the Public Record Office

building, Chancery Lane, constructed between 1851

and 1856. This important Grade II* building was

acquired by King’s College London in 1998 and

work began on its conversion to a library for the

Schools of Humanities, Law and Physical Sciences

& Engineering in summer 1999.

King’s College London will be seeking

philanthropic support for the conversion of this

magnificent building. For further details, contact the

College’s Development Office on 020-7848 3205.
