Christian pilgrimage
What is a pilgrimage?A pilgrimage is a journey to a religious place. It is different to going on holiday.
People make the journey for different reasons; perhaps because they want to give thanks to God, ask for help or to say sorry and ask for forgiveness. The people who go on these special journeys are called 'pilgrims‘.
Christian places of pilgrimage such as Canterbury Cathedral are specialbecause of something that happened there.

Jerusalem
Special placesJerusalem is a very special place to Christians because it is believed that Jesus was sometimes brought here as a child. It was also here that Jesus spoke to people and tried to help them. It is also a special place because this is where
Jesus was crucified at the end of his life, remembered at Easter.
