Dear CFC, Wow! In my mind I was already backing off some from day to day ministry. We thought for sure Shevi Sloane was going to accept the position of CFC’s next pastor (Contingent on the congregation voting for him, which from the clatter seemed likely.) This pastor search is a two way street. While CFC does due diligence to get the right guy for the years to come, the candidates are seeking just the right situation for themselves. For a guy like Shevi, owning a home in Michigan and moving his family a 1,000 miles away, he wanted clear direction. After much prayer and fasting, Shevi feels that God has not called him to come to CFC. As impatient as we might be (and I am) we must do the following:1. Trust the candidate to hear God’s leading for them as they get one

shot and they want to take the right one.2. Know for a fact God has the right person for CFC.3. Fight impatiences and focus on prayer, fellowship, service and

worship. The next guy in, can’t do that for any of us. We must do it for ourselves and whoever comes and whenever they come, this should be our focus.

4. Pray for the search committee. They have invested Monday after Monday after Monday going through paperwork, requesting materials, listening to sermons and making calls. I don’t want them to get discouraged. Thank them for their work.

5. Realize the magnitude of their job. This process might seem long, but as I talk to other churches, we aren’t taking any longer than they did. It’s especially challenging when we don’t have denominational assets, and have never done this before. Some do it every 3 or 5 years.

I did hear one misconception, that I am in control of who comes in. In fact, I’ve been to two search committee meetings as I don’t think it is up to me to pick my replacement. I am on standby to answer questions about theological questions. The process is that the search committee does the long tedious footwork, it goes to the elders/deacons and the final steps, the candidate comes in for an official visit, preaches, the congregation can ask questions and then votes.Trust God - long after I’m gone - maybe long after you’re gone THIS IS HIS CHURCH. I apologize for the delay in the announcement.Sonny

When God works in His own ways.We sometimes expect that God will work and act in familiar ways. We expect that people will come at once to ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior when asked by a preacher. During our camp for teens here at Ostróda Camp, God decided to work among them in a different way than we were familiar with. It all happened during a morning meeting at KreoCamp. After worship was over and the message given about the beauty of heaven and a relationship with Christ, the young people were called upon to think about a personal relationship with Christ. Then a song was played and sang but not one teen went to the front. We sang a worship song for a long time. For several minutes nobody moved; nobody walked. It seemed that no one was touched by God’s Word, but we people cannot see when God moves human hearts. God had already been working in the hearts of many of the teens. Finally, one girl named Karolina stood up and with determination walked straight to the counselor waiting at the front of the chapel. She knelt with him and began praying with him. After they finished praying, the next person stood up and went to a counselor and they prayed together. After they finished their prayer, the next person stood up and then the next one and the next one. It was as if all of them were waiting for their own moment of prayer and meeting with God through the simple prayer of a sinner. Eventually, more counselors went to the front to pray with the teens that were moved by God’s Spirit. The teens approached the counselors one by one, reminding me of an icicle that slowly melts in the afternoon sun. Slowly, drop after drop, without rushing, each drop falls from the icicle. Seconds and minutes and time don’t really matter; every single drop just falls in its own time. I will not forget what one of the girls that we prayed with said. We asked her what her decision was and what she wanted to pray for. She gave us a short and simple but at the same time, the most wonderful answer a person can say. She said, “I want to pray that I will follow God,” she meant Christ. That afternoon from the 45 teens at the camp, 27 of them went forward to pray, one-by-one, in their own time. Many of them asked Christ to be their Lord and Savior; some renewed their relationship with Christ. At first, it seemed like nothing was going to happen, but God was working in His own way in the hearts of these 27 kids. In the end, it isn't about walking forward but about God working in a sinner's heart. “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart…" Ecclesiastes 3:11 Thank you for being a part of this amazing work here in Poland. Andrzej & April Korytkowski and children, CFC missionaries in Poland
