CHRIST THE KING SCHOOL PARENT BULLETIN PLEASANT HILL, CALIFORNIA VOLUME I NUMBER 13 November 4, 2014 Dear School Families, What happened to October? It feels like we just began our school year together and now we are three weeks away from Thanksgiving. I am currently in attendance at a Diocese of Oakland principal’s retreat and hearing the stories from some of my colleagues, especially the other new principals, makes me ever grateful for the strength of this organization. I walked into Christ the King with a wonderful school structure in place. A great faculty, staff, and an excellent administration team ready and willing to embrace change but rooted in CTK tradition. Seeing Caritas, WAJAT, Halloween and Bi-Annual Giants World Series Championship has really been a pleasure and I am thankful for every day I get to come and spend time in this community. PRAYERS: Prayers for those who are sick, those who are fighting cancer, those who are out of work, hungry and homeless. ITBS TESTING RESULTS GRADES 2-8: Included in today’s Family Envelope for students in Grades 2-8 is the Performance Profile Report of your child’s ITBS Tests taken in September. The student’s score sheet indicates areas of strength and areas that need mastering. Parents of students Gr. 3-8 will receive an email with your child’s longitudinal report. This report compares your child's ITBS scores across several tests. It includes several types of scores, including National Percentile Rank and Grade Equivalent (GE). Included in the email is an explanation of the information given in the report. Please let the office know if you do not receive an email. CHRIST THE KING SCHOOL PARENT BULLETIN

PLEASANT HILL, CALIFORNIA

VOLUME I NUMBER 13 November 4, 2014

Dear School Families,

What happened to October? It feels like we just began our school year together and now we are

three weeks away from Thanksgiving. I am currently in attendance at a Diocese of Oakland principal’s

retreat and hearing the stories from some of my colleagues, especially the other new principals, makes me

ever grateful for the strength of this organization. I walked into Christ the King with a wonderful school

structure in place. A great faculty, staff, and an excellent administration team ready and willing to

embrace change but rooted in CTK tradition. Seeing Caritas, WAJAT, Halloween and Bi-Annual Giants

World Series Championship has really been a pleasure and I am thankful for every day I get to come and

spend time in this community.

PRAYERS: Prayers for those who are sick, those who are fighting cancer, those who are out of work,

hungry and homeless.

ITBS TESTING RESULTS GRADES 2-8: Included in today’s Family Envelope for students in

Grades 2-8 is the Performance Profile Report of your child’s ITBS Tests taken in September. The

student’s score sheet indicates areas of strength and areas that need mastering.

Parents of students Gr. 3-8 will receive an email with your child’s longitudinal report. This report

compares your child's ITBS scores across several tests. It includes several types of scores, including

National Percentile Rank and Grade Equivalent (GE). Included in the email is an explanation of the

information given in the report. Please let the office know if you do not receive an email.

VETERANS DAY HOLIDAY: Reminder, next Tuesday, November 11th is Veterans Day. CTK

School will be closed. Family Envelopes will be going home on Wednesday, November 12th.

FATHER DAUGHTER HARVEST BALL: Father Daughter Ball reservation deadline is

this Friday, November 7th. The photo order forms will be sent home next week and please

bring them with you the night of the event.

FAMILY SERVICE HOURS: Got Hours? Submit your completed Family Service hours before the

Thanksgiving break. Family Log sheets are available in the school office binder or online at the CTK

School website in the Parents section under Handbook and Forms. Summaries of submitted hours will

be sent home in December.

THE GARDEN CAFÉ: The Garden Café this week celebrates our Veterans! We are having hot

breakfast sandwiches, ham croissants, sausage muffins, bread, butter and bacon! Come grab a sandwich,

some fruit, coffee tea, juice, oatmeal, and have a morning chat with your friends at CTK. All are

welcome from 7:30-9:30 a.m. this Friday in the Ministry Center.

CTK ALTAR SOCIETY CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE: The Altar Society will have their holiday

boutique November 22-November 23. They need donations of saleable & usable items, housewares,

electronics jewelry and including knitted and crochet items and quilts. Please call Shary Luthy at 798-

8920 or Andrea Yap at 228-8694.

VISIONS OF CHRISTMAS: Carondelet High School’s Holiday Extravaganza – Visions of

LACROSSE: Players Wanted! Our number one recruitment source is from club members! We are
