Course Objectives
In this level, you will learn the following topics:
‐ introduce Chinese language ‐ master the 5 tones and Chinese pinyin (romanization) ‐ introduce yourself and introduce someone else ‐ number counting (1-50) ‐ basic stroke order of Chinese characters ‐ recognize 50 characters, and be able to write 30 characters ‐ complete Lessons 1-6

‐ greet people ‐ ask someone’s name, occupation, country of origin ‐ ask about locations ‐ say thank you/sorry/goodbye ‐ introduce oneself ‐ ask for permission ‐ introduce people ‐ talk about school subjects
Reading
‐ recognize all the basic characters ‐ identify all the radicals taught
Writing
‐ pinyin with tone marks ‐ Chinese numbers (1-50)and basic radicals ‐ 30 basic characters
Assessment criteria
‐ Written test: 50% ‐ Oral test: 50% ‐ Pass mark : 60%
