Page 2: CHINA, TIBET & THE YANGTZE RIVER - Alumni Travel · 2019-02-14 · An Exclusive Small Group Tour for Alumni & Friends of UCLA Featuring UCLA Professor Natasha Heller Assistant Professor,

Dear UCLA Alumni and Friends,

We invite you to join us in the spring of 2016 to discover the highlights of China. Our small group will be comprised of no more than 24 guests and will be exclusive to UCLA alumni and friends. Enhancing your understanding of this complex country will be Natasha Heller, Assistant Professor, Asian Languages and Cultures at UCLA.

Our journey begins in 2,000-year-old Beijing, site of Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, and, of course, the legendary Great Wall. Next, fly to Xian where we’ll see one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of recent time: the intact life-size army of 7,000 Terra Cotta Warriors. Then, fly to Lhasa in the remote Chinese province of Tibet, the “roof of the world.” With three days here we’ll explore the city’s sacred temples and its vast Potala Palace and absorb the pervasive Buddhist spirituality of the country. Then, relax during a three-night cruise on the Yangtze River, one of the world’s longest and busiest rivers. Our tour concludes in dazzling Shanghai, a city that epitomizes 21st-century China.

Space will fill quickly. Please call today to secure your place on our wonderful small-group tour to China and Tibet!

Regards from Westwood,

Christel Pailet Director, Alumni Travel
