Y5 visit to Winter Gardens

Wednesday 14th June

The visit was great – we got to see a miniature rainforest and

lots of tropical plants. We also wrote

a letter telling the Prime Minister

why we think it is wrong to chop

down the rainforest which is taking

animals’ homes and all our oxygen.

Also we did lots of fun activities,

that were exciting.” Reporters

Kacey and Kate

“We learnt lots of amazing facts

about the layers of the forest and

saw beautiful flowers and plants.

We went on a mission looking for

clues around the gardens and we

saw fish. There were some brilliant

sculptures of dinosaurs which made

the gardens more prehistoric. After

we had found all the clues, we wrote

a letter to Mrs May our Prime

Minister”.

“We visited Ferryhill for a

day of sporting events. The

first activity was throwing

balls into a hoop. We also

did golf, rugby, football and

running – jumping and

hula hooping. We saw

teachers racing. We had a

good day”.

“Year 6 went to Whitby last Thursday for a

trip linked to the book ‘Room 13’. When we

arrived at Whitby, we met Dr Crank who took

us on a walk around the west Cliff and told us

some spooky ghost stories. After that we

went and had our lunch from the fish and

chip shop: it was delicious! On the afternoon,

we went onto the beach. The sea was cold

but we still enjoyed it”.

and finally……

Our future

Letters have gone out to parents and carers today via Parentpay inviting contributions to the

Academisation consultation process. We would ask you to read the information available – including

the initial letter and Frequently Asked Questions – and submit your views via the downloadable

consultation form. Hard copies of the form will also be made available in school at Parents’ Evening on

Monday 10th

July.

We will hold a consultation open forum meeting in school on Tuesday 11th

July. If you have any specific

questions, please send them in to us either electronically or by hand – and we will subsequently

endeavour to provide full and frank answers for you.

In the current educational climate within the UK, we feel it is essential that we take a proactive –

rather than a reactive – approach to planning for our school’s future, and it is important to us that our

families are partners in this process. We look forward to hearing from you.

Have an enjoyable weekend.

With best wishes,

Mrs A. Pybus-Coates
