Chilled Wine Garb A friend found these in a catalog and asked if I could knit some for her. I never thought I’d dress a bottle of wine, but these turned out so cute that I made some for myself. The pattern was easy to come up with and the set is quick to knit up. A nice addition to your holiday table or a great way to dress up a gifted bottle of wine. MATERIALS Yarn: Worsted Weight or DK yarn - I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Solids in colors White, Scarlet, and Kelly Green. One skein of each (3 skeins total) yields at least 12 sets. Needles: 1 set US #6/4mm double point needles Notions: tapestry needle for sewing in ends PATTERN Hat With MC, CO 22 sts. Join in round, being careful not to twist, and place marker at beginning of round. Work 3 rounds k1p1 ribbing. Switch to stockinette stitch and work 8 rounds. CC yarn: Join in CC yarn and knit 4 rounds. MC yarn: Knit 3 rounds. (K2, k2tog) twice, k1, k2tog - repeat once more to end of round - (16 sts) CC yarn: Knit 1 round. (K1, k2tog) five times, k1 - (11 sts) Knit 1 round. K2tog five times, k1 - (6 sts) Cut yarn, weave end through 6 stitches and pull closed. Attach pom pom to top, weave in all ends, and fold up ribbed edge of hat. Scarf With MC, CO 8 sts. Work in stockinette stitch until the scarf measures 17”, alternating between MC and CC every four rows. Ending with MC, bind off all stitches and sew in ends.
