Boys' Broadgreen League Match The boys played their Broadgreen League match against Mosspits at Heron Eccles this week. Despite having lots of first half chances, we found ourselves losing the game 2-0. However, another great comeback from the boys saw us snatch a point at the last minute. Well done boys; still unbeaten in the league this year!

Y5&6 Sportshall Athletics Our Year 5&6 Sportshall Athletics team took part in Heat 5 at Toxteth Firefit Hub with 11 teams taking part in total. The boys and girls were fantastic in their track and field events and it was evident that our team was well prepared. With the top two schools progressing to the City Final in January, the children were excited for the announcement of the results. We were thrilled to find out we had finished in 1st place!! Congratulations, everyone; good luck in the City Finals.

Year 5 R.E.- Shelter Building We used enormous cardboard boxes to build shelters. This was a lesson we will remember; it was incredible to know what it feels like to be homeless and to be cold and wet in the park or on the street. This shouldn’t happen to anyone and we should help heal this like a sore cut on a knee. Reflecting on this is important because we should be thankful for what we have and we are all so fortunate compared to so many others. By Danielle, Year 5

Year 6 Geography & History Field Trip This Tuesday and Wednesday, Year 6 went to the Docks to learn more about how Liverpool is a port and to learn more about World War Two. To find out this information, we went to the Maritime Museum, where we found out the answers to our questions. In the Maritime Museum, we also found out about the Titanic and how the disaster happened. We saw photographs, videos and more about Liverpool’s history. Our Docks are very important because in World War Two, America and Canada sent crops and a variety of equipment to the docks, some of this was cotton and sugar. Did you know that all the buildings around the docks were used to store cotton that had been shipped in from other countries? This is part of the cotton trade. How the cotton trade works is we take the wool, cotton and more and we send them off all over England. This job as a cotton trader earned you load of money, which leads to a big house for all the family. We also learnt that when tourists come to Liverpool they will come to the Docks. We also had pictures from the Docks when they were working. As part of our geography field trip, we had to recognise the buildings now and write down the differences and similarities. After we wrote them down, we had to draw a rough map of what we remember of the Docks. We all found this trip very interesting and it was an amazing experience.

Easy Fundraising The PTFA have an Easy Fundraising site which parents/carers are able to use in order for the school to benefit from any online purchases you may make, therefore please donate to: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/childwallschptfa/

Food Bank Christmas Appeal! Thank you to those who have already sent in selection boxes or other ‘luxury Christmas items’ for us to donate to food bank at St Gabriel’s Church, Toxteth. We will be taking our ‘gifts’ on Tuesday morning (3

rd) so there is still time if you

would like to donate; it really does make a difference for families in Liverpool this Christmas. We thank you for your generosity and compassion. (“Love your neighbour as yourself” Mark 12:31)

Thrive in 5 – Parents’ Workshop Feedback from parents who attended this workshop was extremely positive; we are, as always, very grateful to Christina who has had such a positive impact on children, staff and parents in our school, guiding us in the 5 key concepts of ‘Thrive in 5’ – Find the Positive; Take Personal Responsibility; Have a Positive Impact; Be Resilient; Dream Big.

November Eco Challenges Thank you to Mary from All Saints, Childwall who has shared this month’s Eco Challenges with us. It’s important to remember that each of us can make a difference to our environment in our actions and choices and each of us has a responsibility as stewards of God’s Creation.

1. If you have a small amount of shopping to do and the shop is less than a mile away, consider walking instead of jumping straight into the car.

2. Check out the City Council Gillmoss and Old Swan recycling centres. They take all sorts of stuff including printer ink cartridges, light bulbs and tubes, old mobile phones, Tetrapaks and old tools.

3. Think ahead. When you're doing your Christmas shopping try to avoid cards and wrappings which have glitter, foil, a plasticised surface or ribbon. They can't be easily recycled.

Still lower than usual whole-school attendance this week (96.4%) as a number of children continue to recover from various illnesses. Let’s hope that everyone is feeling better and we can all push forwards over the next few weeks of exciting activities and learning surrounding Advent, and looking forward to Christmas.
