Key Terms Issue Explanation Religious response

Child Labour Work that children are often forced to do, often for little or no money. This could be forced child begging for example.

Jesus taught to love each other and love your neighbour as yourself which means we treat everyone fairly and not abuse them.

Child Trafficking

Child trafficking can either be forced labour (work) or sexual exploitation (using children as prostitutes)

Jesus said ‘blessed are the children, the kingdom of God is theirs’ Jesus is often pictured with Children and he always spoke about their innocence. Christians believe children should always be protected.

Child soldiers

Children, often as young as five, being forced to fight in wars.

Most Christians believe that war is wrong as it goes against Jesus’ teachings that we should ‘love our enemies’

Rights Something which everyone is expected to have because they are human. Everyone is entitled to human rights.

God said we were all ‘created equally’ therefore we should all be given equal rights. Jesus did not discriminate and helped everyone no matter what they had done.
