Christmas Eve is tomorrow! Our Christmas Eve celebration begins with a live nativity with real animals, 3–6 p.m. (outside near the front of the church). We’ll have a camel (Princess Jasmine), donkey, cow, goats and sheep, plus Mary and Joseph. So bring your kids and friends! You can pet and

feed the animals, dress up as shepherds and townspeople, and take pictures. The animals will be from Mary’s Go Round, a local petting zoo.

Thinking of making a year-end gift to the church? If so, here are some reminders: To be credited for 2018 tax purposes, all gifts must be submitted with the church offerings on Sunday, Dec. 30, or received in the church office by 10 a.m. Dec. 31 (or by mail postmarked before Jan. 1). If you wish to make an e-giving offering from your bank account, be sure to complete the process by 4 p.m. Dec. 28. Poinsettia delivery: If you would like to deliver a poinsettia to a homebound member, there is a signup sheet in the atrium. Poinsettias can be taken after the Christmas Eve services for delivery.

Diana Butler Bass will be our guest speaker on Epiphany Sunday, Jan. 6. The award-winning author holds a Ph.D. in religious studies from Duke University. Diana’s new book is Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks. Learn how the power of thankful living can change how we treat one another and transform the world. She will speak at both services.

The annual bi-district training day for clergy and laity in Northern Virginia will be Saturday, Jan. 12, 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m., at Floris UMC, 13600 Frying Pan Road in Herndon. The keynote speaker this year is Rev. Dr. Elaine Heath, professor of missional and pastoral theology at Duke Divinity School.
