The New Year is such an exciting time! It is a time of reflection while also being filled with renewed hopes, opportunities, and goals. This New Year brings big changes for our church community as well as my family. My name is Nicole Pelvit and I am the new Children’s Director here at Community Christian Church. I want to introduce myself to all of our families with little ones in the ministry and make myself available to any questions you may have.
I have been living in Bethel for three and a half years, along with my husband, Chad, and our big blended family of eight children: Olivia (15), Zaden (11), Joshua (11), Isabella (10), Luke (9), Layne (9), Jonah (8) and Gabriella (8). I began serving in ministry in 2004 at Crossroads church in Cincinnati, where I worked in children’s ministry
for nine years, after having grown up in a Catholic home in Anderson Township. We love our church family there but have felt God calling us to worship closer to home the past few months. We were searching for a church in Bethel that would be the right fit for not only my husband and I, but our children as well. We feel we found exactly what we have been longing for with CCC! All ten of us are excited to jump into our new church community, get to know new families, and serve the Lord together.
I am especially excited to meet the volunteers and families in Kids Kove and love on your little ones! I have a desire to help children build a spiritual foundation through which they can come to know Jesus personally, grow in their relationship with Him, and impact the world in which they live for Christ. At the same time, I have a heart for connecting and building into volunteers in the ministry. I believe the first step in a successful children’s ministry is serving those that serve. By building into our amazing Kids Kove volunteers, they will be better equipped to serve and connect our children with the Lord.
I would love to talk with you and share more about my vision for Children’s
Ministries and building a solid, connected team of volunteers. Please do not
hesitate to reach out to me [[email protected]]. I am looking forward to
serving Christ with you this year!

Feb 16: LaComedia [Smoke on the Mountain] Cost: $40 by Jan 14 - 26 Tickets Available
Smoke on the Mountain tells the story of a Saturday Night Gospel Sing at a country church in NC Smoky Mountains in 1938. The show features
two dozen rousing bluegrass songs played and sung by the Sanders Family, a traveling group making its return to
performing after a five-year hiatus. Pastor Oglethorpe, the young and enthusiastic minister of Mount Pleasant Baptist
Church, has enlisted the Sanders Family in his efforts to bring his tiny congregation into “the modern world.”
Between songs, each family member “witnesses” – telling a story about an important event in their life. Though they
try to appear perfect in the eyes of a congregation who wants to be inspired by their songs, one thing after another
goes awry and they reveal their true – and hilariously imperfect – natures. By the evening’s end, the Sanders
Family have endeared themselves to us by revealing their weaknesses and allowing us to share in their triumphs.

Elsewhere in the newsletter you will find Nicole Pelvit’s first article, as well as information about our 101 Class on connecting with us here at Community, and information about our New Year’s Eve Pancake morning.
Nicole & her husband Chad have worshipped with us the past couple of Sundays and Christmas Eve as well. We are happy to announce that Nicole will officially begin as Children’s Director this next week on January 2. For 9 years she worked as a Childcare Leader at Crossroads in Cincinnati. Her references spoke of two things about her ministry; One was her organizational skills and secondly was her love and involvement with her
staff and children. She and Chad have lived in Bethel for 3 1/2 years along with their blended family of 8 children. I know many of our parents, grandparents, children’s volunteers, and others of you who pray for our kids will be anxious to welcome their family to Community.
Transitions are always difficult, however one of the hardest things, especially for Nicole and Chad, will be names. We have 10 names and faces to learn, but she and Chad have a few hundred to get to know. So be helpful to them and for a few weeks introduce yourself when you speak with them.
Children’s ministry (K-5th grade) will be in the auditorium for our 5th Sunday worship time this weekend. Then, on January 7, will be in regular places at 9:30am & 11:00am.
Our Community 101 class will be offered on January 13 in the Connecting Place starting at 10am. We will wrap up at noon. We do ask those who wish to attend the group to let us know so we might provide sufficient child care for those who need that service and have enough food for all who attend. This is a chance to connect with others who are new to the church family and, like you, are wondering how to plug in to meet others, how to serve others, and what the church teaches or believes about salvation. We hope you can join us and meet some new friends. As always, you do not have to be a recent guest to attend this one time group.
For all the Christmas goodies, gifts, cards, and expressions of love you sent to the Asche home this Christmas season, thanks. dan & kay
