Characteristics
There are two main groups discussed
herethe five to seven year olds and the
eight to ten year olds.
Five to seven year olds They can talk about what they are doing.
They can tell you about what they have done
or heard.
They can plan activities.
They can argue for something and tell you
why they think, what they think.

They can use logical reasoning. They can use their vivid imaginations.
They can use a wide range of intonationpatterns in their mother tongue.
They can understand direct humaninteraction
Their understanding comes through hands,
eyes and ears. The physical world isdominant at all times.
They have very short attention andconcentration.

Their basic concepts are formed.They have very decided views of the
world. They can tell the difference between
fact and fiction.
They ask questions all the time.
They rely on the spoken word as wellas the physical world to convey andunderstand meaning.

what they like and dont like doing. They have a developed sense of

begin to question of the decision. They are able to work with others

How children learn a foreign language
Children learn a foreign language
in a natural way, the same way they learn their ownlanguage.
through being motivated. It depends on theteachers style. If the teacher motivated them theywould learn fast or quicker.
by listening and repeating by imitating the teacher. They want to please the
teacher. They feel embarrassed when they makemistakes.
by doing and interacting with each other in anatmosphere of trust and acceptance, through avariety of interesting and fun activities for whichthey see the purpose.
