Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity is a national epidemic. In

America, there are over 17% of children

that are overweight or obese. (2) This

affects 12.7 million children and

adolescents which is 1 in 3 children.

Modifications in dietary intake will assist

to prevent diseases. There is so much we

can do to prevent obesity in children.

Keep Moving

Benefits of physical activity: (4)

Lowers blood cholesterol levels

Helps prevent diseases

Helps with weight loss

Helps with well-being

Keeps bones strong

Better sleep and mood

Improves skin

Improves concentration

Prevention of depression

Create a healthy environment

Limit time in front of the TV or playing video games

Have fresh fruit and vegetables on hand

Limit junk foods

Keep active with your children daily

Say words like “Healthy Choices” Keep a positive environment

Incorporate superfoods in daily meals
