HOW CRY WOR;S?
OUR A<<ROACH
T#e C#!$d R!g#"s A,,roac#
We've learned that the only sustainable way to make change last is to adopt what we call the
'child rights approach"'
8!rs", by looking at children;s issues in their entirety rather than through the silos o! education,
health, child labour, child abuse, !oeticide=in!anticide and so on"
T#e, by understanding the underlying root causes o! the deprivation N gender, caste,
livelihoods, displacement, geographies and the like"
8!a$$(, mobiliing each local community to !ind long+term solutions to these problems, by
ensuring relevant laws and policies that guarantee implementation o! their rights"
At CRY we believe in child rights for three reasons because the alternatives are un!ust,
illegal and ineffective.
WHAT CRY DOES?
-R.;s role is that o! an enabler between two groups o! people N the development organiations
working !or child rights at the grassroots level and people like you, who come together !or child
rights"
HOW YOU CAN GET IN:OL:ED?
$owever well+intentioned the gesture, children should not become ob&ects o! our sympathy or
our charity" (hey are citiens with the same basic rights as ours"
We urge to each o! you to start thinking o! children in their entirety, as citiens, with rightsguaranteed to them in the -onstitution o! ndia as well as when ndia signed the % -hild Rights

(o enable meaning!ul change, we need to believe, really believe, that every child, regardless o!
birth and circumstance is truly e*ual" We need to realie that each child who does not have
