Kaur In our regular meeting on August 26, 2016 President Rtn. Amarjit Singh greeted all present and welcomed the guests. PDG Shaju Peter introduced the Chief Guest Ms. Nicky P. Kaur, Founder & CEO of Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, which is an initiative of Sai Aasra Paraplegic Rehab Centre, a trust registered in Amritsar under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. Nicky is a resident of Amritsar having a bakery business there. Now she spends most of her time in Chandigarh and the weekends in Amritsar. On July 10, 2016 Governor of Punjab and Haryana Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki inaugurated the Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, located at Sector 28-A, Madhya Marg, Chandigarh. This centre caters for persons with acute injuries and disabilities. The head of therapy at the centre is Sunil Raj who had earlier worked at the rehabilitation centre at the Christian Medical College in Vellore. He has dealt with large number of patients having multiple disabilities due to injuries or non-traumatic causes. In our regular meeting on August 26, 2016 President Rtn. Amarjit Singh greeted all present and welcomed the guests. PDG Shaju Peter introduced the Chief Guest Ms. Nicky P. Kaur, Founder & CEO of Chandigarh Spinal Rehab, which is an initiative of Sai Aasra Paraplegic Rehab Centre, a trust registered in Amritsar under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882. Nicky is a resident of Amritsar having a bakery business there. Now she spends most of her time in Chandigarh and the weekends in Amritsar.

Nicky explained that this centre has independent living skills trainers, counsellors, and rehabilitation specialists, including doctors on call. The centre also offers in patient (20 beds) and outpatient services. Rehabilitation is offered for spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, stroke, amputation, etc.

Rtn. Dr. Col. V.K. Kapoor presents a memento to Ms. Nicky P. Kaur, accompanied by her team including two persons having severe disabilities who displayed their will power, courage, determination and empowerment, cheerfully moving on in their lives on wheel chairs

The centre also provides outpatient services like therapy-based healing for common ailments like arthritis and pain, age-related conditions, children with special needs and post-surgery issues.

EVRY India shows interest in the cause of Rotary

PDG Shaju Peter and Secretary Sundeep Singh Sawhney with the management staff of

On August 23, 2016 EVRY India Pvt. Ltd., Mohali, a subsidiary of EVRY, Norway the largest Nordic IT Group, had invited PDG Shaju Peter as the Chief Guest. Secretary Sundeep Singh Sawhney was also present. Addressing an audience of employees and management staff PDG Shaju gave a PowerPoint presentation on ‘Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation’. He also shared various projects of our club for the benefit of community.

Secretary Sundeep interacted with the EVRY team on how to contribute through Rotary. He also explained to them the procedure for becoming a Rotary member.

EVRY Mohali Sr. Vice President, Mr. Anil Rao and the management team of Mohali Centre lauded the efforts of Rotarians of Chandigarh Midtown.

Wheel Chair for SOREM

On August 27, 2016 at SOREM, Sector 36, Chandigarh Secretary Sundeep Singh Sawhney donated a wheel chair. The proceeds against sale of spices made by specially abled students and the wheel chair were handed over to Ms. Promila Chandra Mohan, Honorary Secretary of SOREM.

She thanked our club as the wheel chair will help the special students to go to the washrooms. She also lauded the efforts of the Rotarians of Chandigarh Midtown for their initiative of forming the Interact Club at SOREM.

Centennial Year District 3080 Cricket Tournament The inter club matches will be conducted at Zonal level followed by inter-zonal matches which will be played as 20-20 format. The semi finals will be held at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Chandigarh on 11th December 2016, followed by final at PCA, Mohali on 25th December 2016.
