Executive Board discussed the issue and appointed 1st VP to
establish a Task Force on the issue In 2014 the Task Force met at
GPSTC to discuss the issue and determine the need and types of
certifications for the Georgia Fire Service

The Process Many hours were spent reviewing consultant
recommendations, other state programs, nationally recognized
programs, and existing Fire Academy research. Currently available
resources and potential future courses were discussed Alternative
means of delivering courses were explored to bring the courses to
the Volunteers

Process continued National Standards were identified The needs
of the diverse Georgia Fire Service were kept in the forefront A
consensus was reached by the group on all issues Some discussions
have taken place with GFSTC about the possibility of partnering on
certifications

Registered Volunteer Firefighter through GFSTC NIMS 100, 200, 700,
& 800 Chief Fire Officer Orientation Day 1

Georgia Chief Fire Officer (GCFO) Certification Prerequisites
Must be a minimum of a Company Officer Must be state certified
through GFSTC (any of the 5 certifications) NIMS 100, 200, 700,
& 800 Chief Fire Officer Orientation Day 1, 2, & 3
