The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) is a ten-team women’s professional soccer league featuring national team players from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. The ten clubs are the Boston Breakers, Chicago Red Stars, Houston Dash, FC Kansas City, Portland Thorns FC, Seattle Reign FC, Sky Blue FC, Washington Spirit, Western New York Flash and expansion side Orlando Pride.

Based in Chicago, the NWSL is supported by an unprecedented international collaboration between the Canadian Soccer Association, the Federation of Mexican Football and the United States Soccer Federation.

Each of the league’s ten clubs will play a total of 20 games from April through October, with a schedule consisting of 10 matches at home and 10 away with an Olympics break in August.

ABOUT THE CHICAGO RED STARS

Established in 2007, the Chicago Red Stars began as one of seven teams competing in the Women’s Professional Soccer(WPS) league, which lasted from 2009-2011.

Red Stars win U.S. Open Cup Championship.

NWSL expands to nine teams, with the addition of MLS franchise Houston Dash. Red Stars add U.S. Women’s National team players Christen Press and Julie Johnston, as well as Canadian Olympians Karina LeBlanc and Melissa Tancredi.

Red Stars join seven other teams for the inaugural 2013 National Women’s Soccer League season. U.S. Olympians Shannon Boxx and Lori Chalupny are added to the roster.
