The Professional Connection for Women Dear Gamma Gals,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your 2016-2017 President. It is an honor to serve as your leader for a group of amazing and talented women.
Thank you to our Awards and Installation Banquet Committee: Silvia Alavos, Shaunna Donahue, M’lis Fox, Lynnea Palmer, Brittany Pulkrabek, Kristen Reid, and Taylor Smith (Event Chair). The WILS wine charms were very creative! My favorite part of the evening will always be the scholarship presentations. As I mentioned in my speech, my first memory of WILS was 11 years ago when I came to an Awards and Installation Banquet to accept a scholarship. Seeing a dynamic group of women, all in the field of recreation, made me want to join on the spot. The history and knowledge of everyone involved in the organization is truly amazing.
Your 2016-2017 Gamma Board of Directors has been hard at work developing the calendar of events for this coming year. We will be kicking off with the Annual Business Meeting on Thursday, August 18 at JT Schmid’s in Anaheim. Buffet includes Wood-Fired Pizza, Assorted Sandwiches and Salad. Cost is $10 for Members and Guests, Life Members are free! I look forward to seeing you at this meeting. We will be reviewing the budget and discussing our goals for the next twelve months.
My quote for this year is simple, “Everyone you will ever meet, knows something you don’t.” by Bill Nye. Current membership is around 90. That means there are 89 other women that know something you do not. I challenge you all to come out of your comfort box and talk with someone you do not know this year. WILS is a professional networking organization so I want you to take full advantage of this. Sit at a table without your fellow colleagues, welcome new members, re-introduce yourself to life members, join a committee or run for the board. The opportunities for educational advancement and experience are endless. I look forward to seeing you all soon! Your 2016-2017 Gamma President,

Awards and Installation Recap The Annual Awards and Installation was held on Thursday, May 19, at Angelo’s and Vinci’s Ristorante in Fullerton. The 2016-2017 Gamma Board was installed, scholarship and award winners were annouced and our guests enjoyed a great meal!
