The C&D Canal Wildlife Area consists of nearly 5,000 acres of protected landslining the north and south shores of the Delaware portion of the C&D Canal. The14 - mile long canal owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineersprovides a direct shipping route between the Chesapeake Bay and the DelawareRiver. The Wildlife Area lining its shores is managed by the Delaware Division ofFish & Wildlife for hunting, fishing, and the recreational trail.

Michael Castle TrailThe 6.1-mile paved shared-use recreational trail provides visitors with a spectacularview of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. Phase 1 of the trail runs along thenorth side of the canal from the Summit North Marina to the base of the BranchCanal near Delaware City. The future Phase 2 will extend the trail from SummitNorth Marina to the state line and continue the trail along the Branch Canal intoDelaware City. The completed trail will connect Chesapeake City, Maryland withDelaware City. Visitors can access the trail at Biddle Point or St. Georges
