1999 sulfonamides sulfonamides (hydrazides, ureides) (benzene compounds) Q 0560 24 - 089 Synthetic and Photochemical Studies of N-Arenesulfonyl Amino Acids. Irradiation of the title compounds (V), (VII), (X), and (XI) results in cleavage of the sulfonamide with very sub-stoichiometric release of the intact amino acid because of concurrent decarboxylation during photoreaction. Best release (30%) of free amino acid is observed for compound (VIIa) having an ortho carboxylate group. This indicates that such molecules are not effective for photorelease of neuroactive amino acids. — (PAPAGEORGIOU, GEORGE; CORRIE, JOHN E. T.; Tetrahedron 55 (1999) 1, 237-254; Natl. Inst. Med.
