The initial growth of CdSe, electrodeposited from a DMSO solution containing elemental Se and Cd(ClO 4 ) 2 onto a Cd-Au substrate, is in the form of thin (1.5 nm) epitaxial octahedral rocksalt-type nanocrystals.
