What is the purpose of Digital

Learning?• Digital devices can expand school to

home communication and learning• Access to 24/7 learning for both digital

literacy, and informational literacy• 24/7 learning allows students to

personalize how much and how long they want to learn

• Shifts the learning responsibility to be owned by the student

• Prepares our students to be career and college ready in the 21st Century

Device Care• Most of the Netbooks are made with plastic

and they are fragile• The devices should never be tossed while in

a backpack• It is the students responsibility to keep track

of their device• During PE, netbooks should be locked in

their PE locker• Be sure there is nothing laying on the

keyboard when closing the device.• Liquids should never be near the device• Do not store the device in hot areas such as

in the car, by an oven, or heater

Insurance Protection

• Student Insurance Partners is an independent company outside of RUSD

• All claims go through the Library• The cost of each netbook device is $325 -

$400• The cost of an iPad is roughly $450• Remember the cost of 4 books can

exceed $400• If a device is broken, your student will be

able to use loaner computers or textbook for their core classrooms until the unit is repaired

• Insurance can be purchased online or with the form we have provided you
