The External Display Indicator (EDI) is designed to allow a plant or pool operator to determine the atmospheric chlorine level prior to entering a potentially affected area.

The unit receives a signal from the existing Hydramet (or similar) chlorine leak detector and displays the concentration of chlorine in the atmosphere within the chlorine storage or plant room.

The 100mm LED display can be mounted externally on the chlorine building and viewed up to 50m away. A smaller 20mm unit is available for mounting in an office or workshop area.

Plant Room Safety

The Hydramet or similar leak detector detects a chlorine gas leak and initiates an audible alarm. The plant or pool operator is not recommended to enter the area.

If the chlorine atmostpheric level exceeds 1ppm, an individual trained in operating breathing apparatus and the safe handling of liquefied chlorine gas must attend with SCBA to isolate the container valve. A standby person with the same training must also be in attendance.

At most sites the Hydramet leak detector or similar receiver module is located within the plant room or drum room and can’t be easily viewed from a distance to determine the concentration.

With the External Display Indicator the plant or pool operator can decide on the course of action to take using the information from the indicator at a safe distance.

This system is recommended for monitoring purposes and can also be integrated into an exisiting building management system.
