Notices
The SATs are behind us and we have reached the half way mark in the summer term; the weather seems to be warming a little so I hope
you are all able to get a good short break over the next few days. This newsletter is out a day early and to remind you,
the school is closed to children tomorrow, Friday, as it is a staff INSET day. We are back as normal on Monday 5th June.
One piece of news many of you will be pleased to read is that after half-term we are expanding Lions, our after-school childcare.
We will be offering places from the waiting list after half term.
Last of all I would like to congratulate year 5 on their very successful trip to the Isle of Wight. The accompanying staff were very
proud of the children and they all seem set now to take on the mantle of the new year 6 at the top of the school! Well done and thank
you to all the staff that gave up their week to go with them – and don’t forget the special IoW assembly on Friday 9th June at 9am!
What’s Going On?! The Friends’ app
Something all of us ask ourselves on occasion as we try to manage
our busy lives. Parents from the Friends of Chase Bridge might
have just the thing to help organise your children’s school life.
They will be launching a Chase Bridge app on Thursday 8th
June at 2.40pm which can be downloaded to your phone. It
gives updates on events in school and pushes important messages
to you on everything from the next class assembly to the school
disco. The app will be managed by parents for parents and is fully
supported by the school – we see it as a useful additional tool for
communicating with our ever expanding Chase Bridge community.
We are delighted to have Moira Mulvey, highly respected local
osteopath of the Balanced Body Clinic in Twickenham, sponsor
our FoCB mobile app.
Outdoor Learning Project
This project is progressing well and thank you to the RFU for
providing most of the materials for this. We would like donations
of other items—you can find a complete list of what we would like
on our Facebook page. Click on the following link
https://www.facebook.com/chasebridgeprimary/
Please speak to Mrs Davies or Mrs Patten if you are able to help.
Thank you very much to Susie Higgs for organising
cinema trips for years 3,4 and 6. The children all thoroughly
enjoyed the experience.
Lifeboat Collection
We are collecting on behalf of the Lifeboats week commencing
5th June. Children will be outside at the end of school every day.
Richmond Cut Films competition
Year 6 have been taking part in an anti-smoking/film making pro-
ject at school as part of the Richmond Cut Films competition.
As part of these workshops they have created an advert to per-
suade their friends not to take up smoking. We need your help.
The film with the highest number of votes will win the Overall
Popular Choice Winner and will be invited to attend the Na-
tional Cut Films Awards Ceremony. The students who win will
be invited and get to see their film on the big screen at Curzon
Soho in the West End of London.
Please look-up competition.cutfilms.org and search for their films,
watch and vote. Voting closes at midnight on Monday 29th May.
The films are: Consequences of Smoking; Don’t Start, Be Smart;
Every 6; It Only Took 6 Seconds; Make the Right Decision; Resist;
Smoke Stoppers; Smokin’ Santa; The Side Effects of Smoking; The True
Story of Henry the 8th and The Vision.
Chase Bridge Community
Choir Challenge!
Find your voice with the Chase
Bridge Community Choir challenge!
We’re attempting a four-week choir challenge this June - open to
parents, carers, staff and friends of the school (aged 18+). It in-
volves four rehearsals of contemporary songs, one short perfor-
mance and lots of fun. If you enjoy singing, join us for an oppor-
tunity to meet new friends and learn new skills. No experience of
singing in a choir, or in public, is needed but enthusiasm is essen-
tial! The Choir is run by volunteers. Our website is

Empty Classroom Day
The children and staff recently took part in the our ‘Empty Classroom Day’ on 18th May.
Everyone learnt lots and enjoyed themselves outside: even the weather was on our side!
Reception enjoyed taking their dinosaurs on an adventure in the school grounds . We were each given a dinosaur and had lots of
fun letting them eat the leaves and hide in the trees.
Year 1 enjoyed collecting natural objects and recounting stories. They also made journey sticks.
Year 2 enjoyed taking part is a survey of the wild area and then had a treasure hunt. Kasper in Chestnut said: “My favourite thing
was timing ourselves with Miss Brown”.
Year 3 enjoyed Empty classroom day by taking part in a fraction treasure hunt and guided reading in the sunshine. Maisy in 3D
said, “I really liked exploring outside and working as a team to solve the problems”.
Year 4 took their maths outside to calculate the area of the planters in the garden area.
Year 6 enjoyed the day by Designing their own maths games outside. Sara in 6B said: "we planned an outdoor maths game so that we
can teach it to the younger children when we run the school later this term."
