CONSTRUCTION & REFIT PR0FILE _________________________________________________

NEW BUILD: Trident Shipworks, Tampa, FL. 40m (132’) FRP Composite construction.

Overall supervision from conception to completion. An especially difficult task in that the shipyard went into bankruptcy during the build. Vessel was 90% completed on site using a variety of contractors and later moved for final outfitting.

Captain Charles F. Hacker

I first met Captain Hacker whenon behalf of the Owner ot the motor yachtmyKATHARINEhe requested that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency(MCA)cony out the surveys required for the abovevesselto be in compUancewith the'Code of Practice for Large Sallingand Motor Vessels'.

'Thevesselwasunder constl1ldlonat Trident Shipyard, TAMPAwhereCaptain Hacker wasoverseeingthe buildingwith lull responslbUityfor thedesign, constructionand rwanda) aspectsIncludingthe supervisionof all sub-contractors of a very dimcult project.

During the construction I made several visitsto the yard workb.g with CaptainlIacker on aUaspectsof designand constructionto ensure compUancewithnotonly the megayacht 'Code of Practice' but aUreJevantMerchant ShippingRegulations.

Captain lIacker quickly fQmiliarisedhimselfwith which to him wasa completenewset of Rulesand Regulationsand took on board the primary objedlvesofthe 'Code 01Practice', that of safetyof the Crew and passengersand of the.vessel.

A great deal of correspondencehas taken placebetweenCaptain Hacker andmyselfduring the building and fitting out and Captain Hacker bas shownhepossessesa considerableknowledgeof Yachtsand their constructIon.

Captain Hacker is courteous, considerateand willingandpossessesaUof theattributes that one would expect In a Captain running a commercial enterpriseUke -aMega-yacht. ..

REBUILD: Port of Jadaf, Dubai. 50m CRN Steel / Aluminum CRN.

Completely strip vessel of all interior surfaces, electrical, plumbing & mechanicals. Exterior was extended and restyled. Interior layout was reshaped and redesigned. My initial responsibilities were the redesign of the Bridge and design / specification for Lloyds Class safety compliance throughout the vessel. I later assumed responsi-bility of coordinating the Interior, Electrical & Carpentry Contractors.

SHIPYARD PERIODS & REFITS: Over 20 annual shipyard maintenance periods with various degrees of complexity.

Notables:

- 10 year Special Class Survey, 46m Benetti. Replacement of multiple hull plates af-ter an unexpected discovery. Organized multiple teams working around the clock to complete repairs, then delivered the vessel from Savannah, GA to San Francisco, CA two days ahead of the original date required by the owner.

- Installation of Zero Speed Stabilizers, 49m Feadship. Removed existing stabilizer system from the aft area of the Engine Room to the most optimal location, in the forward most area. Extensive relocation of machinery and equipment was done to accommodate this arrangement. Stabilizer performance with the new system both at anchor and underway was a great success.

- Upper Deck Extension, 69m Oceanfast. Extension of Aft Bridge Deck to a Lloyds approved Heli-deck capable of handling a (12 passenger) EC45 Eurocopter. Delays due to Classification issues required the organization of extra shifts to complete the work in time to deliver the vessel from Florida to Dubrovnik, Croatia, arriving 3 days ahead of the owner’s required date.

- Vibration Analysis, 68m Abeking & Rasmussen. Testing to isolate the nature of the vibration. Resolve through design engineering and installing appropriate structure reinforcement, necessitating building a plywood “room within a room” and adjacent corridor and access lobby to protect the finished interior spaces & built-in furniture.

- 5 year Special Class Survey, 68m Abeking & Rasmussen. Depressions in hull plates due to improper blocking when dry docking. Led a team including; A&R, Shipyard, Class & Management Company to develop a method of removing the depressions and implement the action to the satisfaction of Class.

- Lead new vessel through warranty period, 68m Abeking & Rasmussen. Organize necessary repairs via a cooperative spirit with A&R and contractors over a 2 year period without interfering with the owner’s desired time onboard.

PAINTWORK MANAGEMENT:

- Complete paint system on new build, 40m Trident. Changed contractors midway through the project due to poor performance of original contractor.

- Warranty reshoots, 46m Benetti. First project on taking command was to hire a paint expert from Holland and negotiate reshooting large areas of the vessel with the shipyard that did the paint work 6 months earlier.

- Corrosion repair, prime & finish, 49m Feadship. Complete hull and horizontal sur-faces of the superstructure. On time & on budget.

- Complete prime & finish, 44m Delta. Complete hull, superstructure & mast. Change color of mast and air intake grills, much to the satisfaction of the owner. Completed on time & on budget.

- Complete prime & finish, 60m Oceanco. Spot hull fairing & corrosion work as need-ed. Change hull from dark blue to white and paint entire superstructure & mast.

- Partial prime & finish, 69m Oceanfast. Corrosion work, prime & paint hull & boot tops only. Vessel remained in water and was done quickly and on budget.

- Fairing Adhesion Issue, 68m A&R. Led a team including; Paint Specialist, Paint Manufacture Rep, Shipyard, Painting Contractor & Management Company to identify the reason for poor fairing adhesion and develop a repair plan to coincide with the owner’s schedule.

- Multiple year coating schedule, 68m A&R. Develop a multi-year plan for sectional painting in consideration of; owner’s time constraints, corrosion and aesthetics. Also experimented with vinyl film application.
