CHARITY WORK
Activity 1
The charity that do the WWE is about donate one million dollar
to Susan G. Komen for the cure, this foundation is for the breast
cancer, it helps to early detection, prevention, and studies to
eradicate the breast cancer.
Prince William and Prince Harrys charity is about wildlife and
human conflicts in Botswana, they have projects to improve the bad
issues that this problems create.
Shakira talked about an investing human potential and not a
charity, because this would help a lot of people in the world and
to solve some problems like violence, her project was about
education that it is the best way to improve the world, like she
said education promotes peace.
I think that all the charities are good because all of them do
it because they want to help and they do it from their heart, but
for me the biggest impact is Shakiras project, inasmuch as I think
that the best and fast way to improve the world is with education,
all starts with that, the children need it and they are the future
of the world, so if they study the world will be better.
Activity 2
The functions of social workers are: achieve civil and human
rights, ensure that people are able to meet their basic needs,
welfare the society, help to do the individual self-realization,
become conscious with the people they work about their problems,
help people to know the power that they have over their own lives,
work together with others to create a more socially-just and fair
world.
Activity 3
How did technology help humanitarian causes?
The technology helped humanitarian causes like in the earthquake
in Haiti, the sms helped to know where the people were, and helped
to know different things like where there was humanitarian help,
some weather aspects and other things like that. In Kibera which it
is an outskirts of Nairobi helped to be noted because in the map it
looks like a green national park, the technology makes visible what
is invisible.
These are some aspects that technology can do: ensure peoples
right to information is met, the right to communicate, right to
freedom of opinion and expression and ensure that their voices are
heard.
How humanitarian are you?
In this moment I think that I am not a humanitarian person
because I am too young and I dont have the resources to help in
that way to anyone, but I think that in the future I will be able
to do it.
HAPPINESS
Activity 1
Thoreau meant that the happiness is difficult to find if you are
looking for it, but you will find it in the most unexpected moment
and it will be so quiet that you dont even note it and when you do,
you only will enjoy it.
Activity 2
What does it say about happiness?
It said that Colombia is the happiest under the sun because it
has festivals and celebrations one for every single day of the
year.
Why do you think Colombians are happy people, despite all the
issues our country has?
I think that Colombians are happy people because we are dreamers
and we have a magical country with many colors, flavors, places.
And we have many good people, the ones who we can share everything,
all are very kind and all of them share passion for life, family,
nature and peace.
