1. How to use the fingering chart:

a. The circles that are darkened inindicate which keys aredepressed.

b. On a three valve Trumpet orCornet, the valve nearest you whileholding the instrument in theplaying position is valve #1. Themiddle valve is valve #2 and thevalve furthest away is valve #3.

c. On a valve instrument such as aTrumpet, Cornet, Tuba, Baritone orAlto Horn, the same combination ofvalves will produce severaldifferent tones. Care must betaken to ensure the correct tone isbeing played.

1. How to use the fingering chart:

a. The circles that are darkened in indicatewhich valves are depressed.

b. On a three valve horn, the valve nearestyou while holding the instrument (or theone you place your index finger on) in theplaying position is valve #1. The middlevalve is valve #2 and the valve furthestaway is valve #3. The French Horn isplayed with the left hand.

c. On a valve instrument such as a FrenchHorn, the same combination of valveswill produce several different tones. Care must be taken to ensure thecorrect tone is being played.

b. On a three valve Tuba, Baritone and AltoHorn, the valve nearest you whileholding the instrument (or the one youplace your index finger on) in the playingposition is valve #1. The middle valve isvalve #2 and the valve furthest away isvalve #3.
