What is the Purpose of the Gov’t Affairs Office?
To establish ASHRAE as a leading source for expertise in the built environment and a
resource for policymakers in the development of legislation and regulations affecting the
public, the HVAC&R community, and the engineering profession.

• ASHRAE founded in 2007 and has lead ever since. Now co-chaired by ASHRAE and IAPMO.
• Over 200 members of the “who’s who” in the buildings community.• Over 60 Congressional briefings held on high-performance buildings
issues. Recent briefings include:• The Consequences, Economically and Personally of Poor Indoor Air
Quality• Public-Private Partnerships for Public Buildings• Briefing On Advancing The Building Industry: Findings And
Recommendations From The Consultative Council• How High-Performance Homes Can Save Money, Save Resources
