Ticks Ticks can contract, carry
and transmit disease to humans.
Two disease are Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
Signs and Symptoms
1. See a tick
2. rash appears( red, raised and bull’s-eye)

6. headache and muscle aches
Treatment• Seek medical attention-Get
tested• Remove tick by using
tweezers and pulling on the head slowly and upward. Get it analyzed.
• Do not burn the tick off-you will catch yourself on fire!
• Do not use petroleum jelly or nail polish remover. They can cause more harm.
• Take Antibiotics
Snakebites
Rattlesnakes cause
the most snakebites
& deaths.
Signs and symptoms
1. Puncture wounds
2. Severe pain and burning
at wound site.
3. Swelling and discoloration
Treatment1. Call 911
2. Wash the wound
3. Keep injury below
the heart.
4. Do not apply ice, cut
wound, suction or apply
a tourniquet.
5. Apply a bandage

Rabies
• Viral disease transmitted through the saliva of an infected animal.
• Treatment-immediate medical attention which requires fewer and less painful injections then in the past. It can be fatal!!!
Tetanus• Bacterial infection
that produces a toxin which is transmitted by a bite. These toxins attack the Central Nervous System and can cause death.
Signs and Symptoms
• Irritability, headache, fever and painful muscle spasms.
• Lockjaw-muscles in jaw goes into spasm where you cannot move it.
• If tetanus is not treated every muscle will go into spasm.
Human Bites
• 42 different species of bacteria are found in human saliva.
• A human bite can result in an severe infection.
Treatment• Wash with soap and
water
• Control the bleeding
• Apply a dressing
• Go to a doctor
• If severe go to a hospital immediately and get treatment for the bite.
