Brief History of Microsoft
• Bill Gates founded Microsoft in 1975
• It was originally named Micro-Soft
• Crafted software that let Operating System to be written from scratch
• In 1980, Microsoft was chosen by IBM to formulate their operating system
• In 1981, Microsoft DOS was designed
• In 1995, Costing $1.5B, Java Web Programming Language from Sun was licensed by Microsoft Network
• In 2009, Bing, Microsoft search engine, was rebranded
BRIEF History of Microsoft
• No doubt, Windows 8 is a turning point in the history of computing as
was the MS DOS. The only thing that remains to be seen and given a
thought is whether all OEM’s can survive this change and how soon
the different business organizations adapt to it.
