I want to congratulate all the winners from the chili cook-off/
community Olympics event held at the NDWS this last
month. This year’s best chili went to the VC Times Record, Best
Booth went to VC Fire Department and the Best Costume went to
Dacotah Bank. This event seems to really bring the community
together and it is a great start to the week long events that follow
at the NDWS. I want to thank the NDWS for hosting the event
and Tim Kadrmas for being our emcee for the night!
The Chamber is busy planning some of our summer events
which include; Annual Banquet in May, Rally in the Valley in
June, and Crazy Days in July. Please watch for updates on dates
and events scheduled to take place during these great community
events!

for the awards we give out at our Annual Banquet. Please nomi-
nate those deserving people/businesses so we can let the commu-
nity know about the great people and businesses we have right

Chamber Member Spotlight
Spring is finally here! (I’m saying that in faith that by the time you
actually receive this letter, the wind-chill will be above zero). At any
rate, enjoy these first warm days of spring!
This past month has been another flurry of activities in Valley City. On
the eve of the 2014 North Dakota Winter Show, the Chamber hosted the
30th Annual Chili Cook-off and Community Olympics. Over 500 people
tasted the fourteen different types of chili and enjoyed the variety of
spectacular costumes and booths. An entertaining and intense
competition followed as the Community Olympics played out with some
old familiar games and a few new ones. Thank you to each team that participated in both
events and to each of you that attended!
We would like to say a big Thank You to the following members for renewing
their annual Chamber Membership. It is our desire to work with all of our
Members to ensure our community’s continued prosperity. As always, it is our
great pleasure to refer our Members first!
2014 North Dakota Junior Duck Stamp Contest
The winner for the 2014 contest was Brennen
Stotts of Lisbon. His work, and many others,
will be on display at the Rosebud Visitors
Center from April 9th - 30th. Be sure to stop
by to view the beautiful artwork! Many
Valley City youths participated in the contest
this year. The winners artwork will be on
display at various locations throughout the

and some delicious chili was had by many that came to the event!
Congratulations to all of our winners from the night!!!

12 teams participated in the Community Olympics and showed great sportsmanship! The VCSU Students team was kind enough to loan out their wagon for the Chuck
Wagon Race to several teams so everyone could participate. Another great sight to see was when Open Door’s wagon broke down many teams from the sidelines rushed over
to help get them across the finish line. What a wonderful sight to see!
