I t was a special evening of Mardi Gras magic at the 2012 Chamber Ball as we gathered with hundreds of friends and colleagues to honor important contributors to our community.

There was a true sense of community optimism, a reflection of the positive momentum we’re experiencing as a business community. We’d like to say thank you to the hundreds of you who came out not only in support of your chamber, but in honor of the evening’s award winners.

HiT THe LiNks: CHAMBER lAUNCHES ENHANCEd golf MICRoSItEW hen it comes to memorable golf vacation experiences on the East

Coast, Hilton Head Island truly delivers, with over 40 courses throughout the Lowcountry area.

The chamber’s newly enhanced golf microsite, www.hiltonheadgolfisland.com, which launched on February 6, makes it even easier for consumers to make the best of their golf experiences.

Whether looking for information on golf and lodging, dining, special golf packages or upcoming events, the site allows visitors to explore accommodations and book golf packages through easy-to-navigate features and real time information.

“The site is designed to generate increased leads and drive business for our golf partners and increase awareness of the Hilton Head Island golf experience and exposure for events and golf packages,” said David Zunker, VCB associate director of sales and marketing.

With premier features and direct links to many of the Lowcountry’s championship courses, the site offers golfers the opportunity to create their own unique and memorable golf experience and was designed with input from the Chamber’s golf partner, the Lowcountry Golf Course Owners Association.

Since the debut of its first course in 1961, Hilton Head Island has grown into what Golf Digest readers have named No. 10 on their list of the world’s best golf resorts. The golf microsite is geared toward reaching this market and is already showing increased web traffic. Page views have increased 126% compared to the prior year and the average time onsite has increased by 46%.

The golf microsite is part of the chamber’s ongoing golf initiatives along with the I-95 billboard campaign which reaches 44,000 travelers per day. Media exposure in publications such as February’s issue of Links magazine and a multi-page editorial spread in April’s US Airways magazine’s special golf issue will reach 3 million of the most affluent readers nationally and internationally.

Natural gas appliances not only make every day life better, they’re cost-effective to operate, generally last longer and require less maintenance. In addition to the environmental benefits of lower emissions, plus higher energy efficiency, more than 80 percent of the natural gas used in the U.S. is domestically produced.

Operating your business with natural gas can help reduce your impact on the environment without sacrificing comfort and convenience. If you want to make your business a little greener, while enjoying cost benefits, ask for natural gas. To learn more, call Parks Moss at (843) 815-8808 or Lucas Kinard at (843) 815-8816.

The chamber’s popular networking group for young professionals was formed earlier this year to offer local business professionals an opportunity to gather and network with their peers. With a steadily growing group of attendees, it’s clearly reaching the under-40 segment of the Lowcountry’s business community.

“It’s a great setting for young professionals to network and get a chance to meet some of their peers throughout the region,” said Matt Green, Buckwalter Place/ Buckwalter Commercial. “Since it meets each month in a casual setting, you get to know each other and learn more about the business community and opportunities out there in the marketplace.”

Real life choices included paying mortgages, buying groceries and other essentials.

These days you may know them as the presenting sponsor of this year’s St.Patrick’s Day Parade. Not only are they the leading merchant processing firm in the Lowcountry, they’re also a good neighbor and sponsor of some of the area’s most popular events and charitable services.

“Who doesn’t love a good parade?” jokes Joseph Roces, president of Merchant Services Center. “We believe in giving back to the community and this was a great way to take part in this well-loved community event.”

The firm provides credit card processing and business cash advances to many of the area’s businesses. From large company payrolls to small business needs, they’ve got you covered.
