DAY EVER! Best Performance Report

2014-2015

WHY WE DO THIS WORK

OUR VISION Every child lives in a world where they feel safe, loved and celebrated.

47 have experienced some form of physical assault

30 feel sad or hopeless a lot of the time

17 have thought seriously about attempting suicide

13 females experienced physical or sexual dating violence

28 are bullied

20 are living in poverty

12 have had adverse life experiences that can harm their health and development

8 attempted suicide

These problems reduce learning, increase discipline problems, and can result in physical harm or even death. With your help, we can make a difference in the ability of young people to be in a social and emotional environment where they can thrive. Data sources: U.S. Centers for Disease Control. Youth Risk Behavior Study (2013); Child Trends Data Bank (2013, 2014); Census Bureau 2014

Our vision is still far from being realized. For too many teens, bullying, violence, emotional trauma and alienation are part of a typical school day. Research shows that for every 100 teens in school:

NEW LEADERS

Dorias Brannon has an ease and likability that is melting the hearts of many teenagers and adults across the continent. He’s a visual arts instructor for teens from Oakland, California. He’s faced his past with courage and tenacity. He is also the brother of our very own NeEddra James.

Trish Bruno was a teacher in Denver who implemented Challenge Day in her classroom to help students reach their full potential. She’s the person students depend on. She’s a powerhouse and also sweet, loving, and gives fully to the people she cares about.

Enrique Collazo has a noticeable presence full of calmness and power. He is an absolute inspiration for young people. He’s a mindfulness meditation teacher from Oakland, California and has abundant experience working with teens in calming and inspiring environments. He is peace.

Leah Finity is one of a kind international teen empowerment coach from Virginia. In one moment she’s a powerhouse on the microphone and in the next moment, she’s laughing in the most endearing way. She has a beautiful sensitivity that allows her to care deeply for people.

Caitlin Glasgo has a huge heart and a kind soul. When she grabs a microphone she steps into her power, still making sure all that come into contact with her feel loved. A Montessori teacher, actor and theater instructor from Vermont, she embodies the heart and soul of Challenge Day.

Sevan Apollo Poetry astonishes with his poetic intensity. He has an impressive resume as a motivational speaker, performer, author and poet and he navigates a Challenge Day with humility, authenticity, and dynamism. He is a true team player and he is all heart.

Vincent Méclot (Belgium) is a gentle and kind-hearted entrepreneur from Belgium. He miraculously translated our American script into Flemish. He is humble and has overcome a lot in his life and is dedicated to giving back. He will look you in the eye and share a compliment that melts your heart.

Megan Arabian is our newest inspirational leader having surpassed a whirlwind training this fall. She’s a veteran at caring for and engaging young people. She earned her stripes catering to the fun experiences of thousands of kids on Disney cruises and directing two youth camps. Her serene kindness embraces teens.

Europe

Melanie Mosa (Netherlands) speaks up for what she believes in and has an “it” factor students gravitate towards. There is something very trustworthy about her. She’s aware of everything around her and in a Challenge Day can be seen reaching out to students from all walks of life.

Tim van Huizen (Netherlands) leaves anyone feeling better about their day. To say he is kind is an understatement. He has a way of being incredibly inclusive and non-judgmental. He’s another example of everything we stand for at Challenge Day. Teenagers love him.

OUR NEEDS

INCREASE YOUR IMPACT

HELP US WIN $50,000 Your generous donations are always accepted, and through Dec. 2nd we’ll have a chance to win $50,000

through the Life is Good Challenge happening on Crowdrise. Thank you for your generosity!

BE A HERO and sponsor a school – Goal: $150,000 Our safe schools scholarships bring Challenge Day to places where tragedy like suicide or violence has occurred. We hope to bring a Challenge Day to schools with real stories and critical needs. With your generous donation of $3,300, we can support a school by bringing students compassion, healing, and unity. We are seeking $150,000 to fund 5,000 more students who would otherwise not experience Challenge Day.

BE A CHAMPION for new Challenge Day leaders – Goal: $75,000 Each new Challenge Day Leader we train ultimately reaches 30,000 more young people. The training cost for each new leader averages $15,000. We brought on seven new U.S. and three European leaders this year, and we anticipate bringing on another remarkable class in February 2016. We are seeking $75,000.

BE A PARTNER for our crucial work in Oakland, California – Goal: $50,000 With the generosity of the Quest Foundation, we’re able to fund Challenge Days at middle and high schools in Oakland bringing social and emotional security to a community of young people with often deep needs. Our matching grant from Quest means that we need to secure at least $50,000 to serve Oakland’s youth.

BE THE HOPE for an adult in need – Goal: $10,000 With your recurring gift of $33 or more a month, you can help a person in need transform their life and build social and emotional IQ by attending our intensive Being the Change Workshop with our founders Rich and Yvonne. We are seeking $10,000 to fund a workshop for 60 people in need.

BE AN INNOVATOR for our mobile relationship with clients – Goal: $200,000 We’ve designed a vision for a mobile-enabled experience for our 390 school clients and 8,800 adult volunteers so that young people get the support they need. Now we need a minimum of $50,000 to begin developing it and $200,000 to implement the vision.

BE THE CHANGE for a young person – Goal: $3,300 For every $33 you can give, we can support one young person in a Challenge Day and bring the gift of what many of them describe as the best day of their lives. By giving $3,300, you support 100 students to experience Challenge Day.

Best Challenge Day is a world leader in providing empowering and transformational workshops for teens as well as adults. Our life changing programs create a safe, open, and caring space for people to connect in a nurturing and fun environment, helping us realize that we are not alone in the issues we face (bullying, drugs, violence, abuse, poverty, prejudice, racism, etc.). Our programs provide real empathy and real hope and catalyzes us to “be the change” in the world. People often describe their experience with Challenge Day as “the best day of my life.” In addition to our school programs, Challenge Day offers programs for businesses, workplaces, nonprofits, communities and adult workshops as well as speakers for keynotes and conferences. 925-957-0234 [email protected] www.challengeday.org 2520 Stanwell Drive, Suite 160 Concord, CA 94520
