Sir,1. In accordance with Para 2(a) of Govl"of India,Ministry of Defence letter No MoD/IC/1072/321AS (J)/6864/2006dated 01 Sep 2006, the next RIMC examlhation for admission to Class VIII in the Rashtriya Indian Military College,Dehradunfor the Jan 2012 termwill beheld at the selected centres in the countryon 01 (Wed) and 02 (Thu) Jun 2011,Thecandidateswillbe examined inthe fol lowing subjects: •

Note: The interviews will be held for only those candidates who pass the written exam; their list will be sent to therespectiveState Governments by theArmyHeadquarters. 'i2. The Examination in English (1000·1200hrs) and Mathematics (1400-1530hrs) shall oe conducted on01 Jun 2011 andGeneral Knowledge paper (1000-1100hrs) on 02 Jun 2011. The interview date shall be 06 (Thu) Oct2011. Mathematics and General Knowledge papers may beanswered either in Hindi orinEnglish. The examination willbe held simultaneously for all the candidates, whether they answer the Question papers in Hindi orEnglish. Minimumpass marks in each paper inclUding interview will be 50 %and if the candidate fails to secure 50 %marks in anypaper he will bedeclared ineligible for admission.The selection ofthe candidates will be purely on merit.

3. Onlyboys are eligibleto apply for admission to the RIMe, Dehradun. At the time ofadmission toRIMC (i.e, on01 Jan 2012) the boy should either be studying in Class VII or passed Class VII from any recognized school. Theyshould notbe less.lhan11% years inage butshould not have attained the age of13 yrs as on 01 Jan 2012, I.e..theyshould not be born earlier than 02 Jan 1999 and not later than 01 Jul 2000. It issuggested that while forwardingapplication forms, they should be asked to furnish a certificate of age in duplicate from any recognized school orMunicipal Birth register.The applicants should be informed that no applicatioo fb r change in the date ofbirth, from thatoriginally given by them would beentertained later on by the college authorities. '

4. .Applications induplicate on prescribed formaccompanied by aBankDraft payable atSTATE BANK OF INDIA,TEL BHAVAN (BANK CODE·01576) DEHRADUN only will be accepted for Rs 50/· (Rs 51· in case of ScheduledCaste and Scheduled Tribe Candidates) in favour of Commandant RIMe, Dehradun and documents to be attachedwith application form three passport size photographs, Birth Certificate, SC, ST Certificate and Certificate fromprincipal oftheSchool in original with photograph on it attested stating date of birth and in which Class thestudent isstUdying. Application forms should reach the respective state Govts (as specified inthe press note) of theStates, where their parents Iguardians normally reside on or before 31 Mar 2011 . Kindly note theapplication formsmust be sent to the respective State Govts and not to the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun,

6. I am to request that necessary arrangements, as in the previous years, may please be made for holding theexamination in the states and the name (with tele, fax numbers and e-mail address) of the officers nominated forconducting the examination may becommunicated to the Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun by 15 Apr 2011,ADEQUATEPUBLICiTYmay please begiven regarding this examination inthe local papers at least twice or thrice through the pressrelease before 05Jan 2011. In case State Govts desire that the applications should be submitted through the DistrictOfficer, this maybe made clearInthenotices to be issued in the local papers. Application forms may be obtained bythecandidates directlyonpayment from RIMC.

7. In accordance wi\h the procedure laid down in this Ministry's letter No. AJ350791GS/MT-6(A)1453-BID (GS·I1)dated 05 April 1989. \he answer books in respect of the candidates along wi\h the application forms & drafts receivedfrom them may please be forwarded at the end of the Examination, in a sealed cover to \he Commandant, RIMC,Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

8. . Copies of the prospectus with application forms and set of old question papers can be obtained from theCommandant, RIMC, Dehradun (UK) on payment of Rs 250/· (Rupees two hundred fifty only) through Demand Draft infavour of THE COMMANDANT RIMC DEHRADUN, DRAWER BRANCH, STATE BANK OF INDIA, TEL BHAVAN(BANK CODE.01576). DEHRADUN, UTTARAKHAND.These will be despatched byregistered parcel or Courier. RIMewill NOTberesponsible for anypostal delayor loss in transit.

Note: The application forms issued by RIMC only shall be valid . Locally printed 1 Photocopied and without RIMChologram(Seal) formsshall not beaccepted.

9. The viva-voce test is to beconducted bythe State Govts on06/Thu)Oct 2011 foronly1hose candidates whohave guaDfied in the written·exam, The candidates will be informed by early Sep 2011.:'The constitution of theselection board is asprescribed in Para8 of the regulation governing RIMC and shallbe as fol~ws : -

"(a) Chief Secretary to the Govt or in case \he State Govt so desires any other Secretary of the State Govt

. (b) Two military Officers, oneof them should not bebelow therank of U Col. These officers will bedetailedasfar aspossible from the nearest Military Station and all expenses ofTAandDA etcwill be bome by the Govtof India.

(c) The State Directorof Public InstitutionsorDirectorof Education or some senior officernominated byhim.

(d) Where practicable, a member of the State Public Service Commission...10. The result of the viva- voce must be sent in a sealed envelope to the Commandant, RIMC. and Dehra'dunimmediately after theconduct of vivavoce.

11 . PRESS RELEASE FOR NEXT RIMC ADMISSION TEST IN JUNE 2011

PRESS INFORMATION BUREAU (DEFENCE WING) GOVERNMENT OF INDIANewDelhi, the Dec 2010

1. The Rashtriya Indian Military College is an Inter-Services Institution and a Category 'A' establishment oftheMinistry of Defence. The College was established in 1922 with the primary aim of preparing the boys for entry IntoDefenceServicesandtoprovide quality allroundeducation to young boys.

2. Applications are invited fromboys for admissiontothe Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun (UK)forJan 2012 Term whichwillbe conductedatselectedcentres on 01(Wedl and 02 !ThulJun201 1,

3. Entry Age- Candidates appearing for the above test should not be less than 11 ',1, years inage but should nothave attained the age of13yearsason 01 Jan 2012, i.e..they shouldhave been bornnot earlier than02 Jan 1999 andnotlater than01 Ju12000. .

4. Educational Qualifications- Candidates shouid either be studying in Class VII or passed Class VII fromanyrecognizedschoolat the time of admissionto the RIMC, i.e. on 01 Jan 2012,

5. Scheme of Examination- The examination comprises of: -

(a) Written Examination- The written part of the examination will consist of three papers, namely, English(1 000-1 200hrs), Mathematics (1 400-1530hrs) on 01 Jun 2011 and General Knowledge (1000·1100) on02 Jun 2011.

(b) Viva Voce- The interview date shall be 06 (Thul Oct 20t1 , and interview will be held for only thosecandidates who qualify inthe written exam, Minimum pass marks in each paper Including Interview willbe 50% and the date, venue for interview will be intimated to them by respective State early Sep 2011 .Intelligence and personality of thecandidates will be tested in the interview.

(c) Medical Examination- The candidates finally selected after the viva-voce will undergo a medicalexamination atselected Military Hospitals and only those candidates found medically fit will be considered forselection and admission to the RIMC. The medical examination of the candidates forms only a part of thesystemofselectionanddoesnot imply thefinal selection.

6. Examination'Centre!!· Examination centres are generally located in the state capital!! orincitiesttowns as peradvertised. .

7. Fee- Fees atRIMC isheaVily subsidized bythe Central Govt. The fee is presently Rs. 26,400/- per year. Itmayincrease from time totime. Atthetime of entry a SecurttyDeposit ofRs. 10,000/- is tobe made. This is refunded whenthe boy passesout.

8. Scholarships· Scholarships are granted by various state Govts to meritorious students. The amount ofscholarships varies from state to state and is in between Rs. 10,000/· to Rs. 20,000/. per annum. Continuation ofScholarshiponcegranted by thestate isSUbject tomerit, income and discipline ofthe cadet and his performance duringthe year.

9.
