INTRODUCTION :Common Entrance Test or CET Karnataka is conducted for the purpose of admitting<medical-admissions-india.html> students to first year Courses in Engineering Medical(Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery MBBS) Dental Courses in Bangalore ,Mangalore, and other districts in Karnataka, All professional colleges (educational)within the Karnataka State which offers Medical Education, Dental Education andEngineering are affiliated to the state run Universities and recognized by the MCI, DCIand AICTE. Education that fall to the share of the Karnataka State Government. . The feeStructure differs every year for Karnataka State students and other (non Karnataka)students . These in turn are split between the Karnataka State Government and the collegemanagement. The payment seats are further sub-divided into Karnataka quota and Non-Karnataka quota. least 35% marks in the optional subjects is eligible for Engineering and Technologycourses; provided further that, the marks obtained by the candidate in Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Information Science / Electronics / Biology in the Q. E., will beconsidered in place of Chemistry for the purpose of determination of eligibility in respectof Engineering / Technology courses.Based on the performance of the candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematicssubjects in both Common Entrance Test and the Qualifying Examination, the Engineeringrank list will be prepared and published.A candidate who has passed the Q. E. with Mathematics as one of the optional subjectsand English as one of the languages of study along with other subjects and obtained atleast 50% marks in aggregate in all subjects OR as revised by the Architecture Council of

India, from time to time, is eligible for Architecture course. (40% in case of SC/ST/Category-1 candidates.) ; provided that the candidates who are interested inadmission to Architecture course, should appear for both PART - 1 & PART - 2 of theAptitude Test compulsorily. Marks obtained by the candidates in Physics, Chemistry andMathematics subjects in the Common Entrance Test will not be taken into account fordetermining the merit / rank, for admission to Architecture course.Based on the performance of the candidates in both Aptitude Test and theQualifying Examination, the Architecture rank list will be prepared and published. TheSC / ST / Category - 1 eligibility criteria is applicable to persons of Karnataka origin whoare claiming eligibility for Government seats under clauses (a), (b), (f), (h), (j), (k) and (l)and the same is not applicable to clauses (c), (d), (e), (g) and (i) of Item - 7 of Chapter - I.Not only a candidate who has passed the qualifying examination <aimeca-aicet-Results.html> with requisite marks but also a candidate who has appeared for the Q. E.and expecting the results is eligible to apply for the Common Entrance Test / AptitudeTest.The repeaters and ex-students of Karnataka 2nd PUC, CBSE, CISCE and othercandidates claiming eligibility for Government seats, should invariably send a photocopyof their Q. E. marks card (on which the CET admission ticket number is boldly written) tothe CET Cell soon after the completion of Common Entrance Test on or before 20-05-2005, failing which, the results of such candidates will be with-held for want of Q. E.Marks. However, intermediary ranks / Spot ranks will be assigned for the candidateswhose results have been with-held, subsequent to the submission of photocopy of the Q.E. marks card. See box at Page - 19 about intermediary ranks / Spot ranks / ranks endingwith G55, G44, etc.,The candidates who are appearing for Karnataka 2nd PUC Annual 2006 as fresher neednot furnish the Q. E. marks, as it will be obtained directly from the Department of PUE.After the publication of Karnataka 2nd PUC annual 2006 results, the candidates whoapply for revaluation / retotalling should invariably produce the revised marks card to theCET Cell immediately for getting the new ranks assigned.

The Common Entrance Test / Aptitude Test and performance in the qualifyingexamination will be the basis for admission of candidates to the above courses toGovernment seats in institutions affiliated to Universities in Karnataka. A student shouldcompulsorily appear for PCM subjects in case of Engineering / Technology courses, PCBsubjects in case of Medical / Dental / ISM & Homoeopathy courses in the Common

Entrance Test and for Aptitude Test Part - I & II for admission to Architecture course.3. ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY : The applicant should,(a) for Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yogacourses, have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with PHYSICS,CHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY as optional subjects with ENGLISH as one of the languagesof study and obtained at least 50% marks in the PCB group, provided that for Dentalcourse, the candidate must also have secured 50% of marks in English language.However, SC, ST and Category - I candidates are eligible if they secure 40% in PCB with40% in English language in the case of Dental course. For admission to these courses, thecandidate should have completed the age of 17 years as on 31st of December 2005.(b) for Engineering and Technology courses, have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th Std.

brochure with application form by Speed Post, by sending a self addressed cloth linedenvelope of size 25 cm x 30 cm along with a demand draft for Rs. 650/- drawn in favourof “The Special Officer, CET Cell, Bangalore” payable at Bangalore” and the Karnatakacandidates residing outside India can get the brochures by sending a demand draft for Rs.2000/-. The contents on the self addressed envelope should be either in English orKannada language only. The cover in which the demand draft and self addressedenvelope are sent should be boldly superscribed with the words “REQUEST FOR CET -2005 BROCHURE” and should be sent to the address of the Special Officer by “SPEEDPOST” ONLY. The CET Cell will not take the responsibility, if the envelope is sentthrough courier or any other private arrangement and also for the incomplete andinsufficient addresses on the envelope.
