    1ST 2*250 MW UNIT BOILER ARE ABL DESIGN,HAVINGDOWNSHOT TYPE FUEL FIRING SYSTEM & TG AREPARSON,ROLL-ROYCE MAKE.

    3RD UNIT BOILER IS BHEL CE DESIGN,HAVING CONVETIONALTANGENTIAL FUEL FIRING SYSTEM & TURBINE IS KWUDESIGN.

    -Coal (-60-65% - own mines

    -10% -from ECL

    -15-20% -from BCCL-10-20% -Imported )

    COAL GCV :4050

    VM : 18-20%

    ASH : 38-40% DAILY COAL CONSUMPTION : 10,000 MT.

    STOCK MAINTAINTED BEFORE MONSOON:2,50,000 MT.HAVING SHED TO COVER 40,000 MT OF COAL.

    No wall blowing is required in ABL boiler, only

    RH soot blowing (4-nos LRSB) done . But in

    BHEL boiler wall blowing is done once in a

    day and LRSB not commissioned till date.

    ABL design boiler having Recuperative type

    APH & Horizontal RH.

    100 % DRY ASH EVACUTION SYSTEM,EXPORT

    TO BANGALADESH.

    SPM LEVEL IS VERY LOW - 20-30 mg/n cu-m. HAVING AMONIA DOSING & WATER FOGGING

    SYSTEM AT ESP INLET.

    HAVING WAGON TRIPLER SYSTEM, TOOK 6-7HRS FOR UNLOADING BOXN.

    ERVs ARE NOT I/S.

    AT THE TIME OF ISSUING GATE PASS SAFETY

    HELMET IS PROVIDED TO VISITORS.

    IT IS MANDATORY FOR VISITORS TO FIX

    VISITOR PASS ON HIS SHIRT.

    CANTEEN FOOD IS GOOD WHERE GM ALSO

    TAKE HIS LUNCH.

    Best practices-----

    0 CBD opening , AVT- treatment is done.

    Not loaded m/c above 105% .

    Restricted coal firing 160 TPH, upto 170 TPH during

    evening peak hours (only for 2 hrs.). Every 2 hr interval coal sample analysis being done to

    restrict % ash near about 38%.

    Maintain unit parameters near to design value.

    Light up to unit sync & upto 50-60% load achieved

    through one set of Auxiliries. Having retractable furnace exit gas temp measurement

    probe.

    Best practices----

    Annual O/H schedule every after 2 years only for12days & Capital O/H schedule is 6yrs interval for25 days. Every O/H planned in the month of

    January, helps them faster cooling of Boiler &Turbine.

    No scaffolding erection done in Ist pass, checking

    being done by using sky-climbers (07 nos). Forsafe operation of sky-climbers,service engineersare called.

    Best practices-----

    For faster cooling of pent house, 15 nos man madechimney (Dia-15) erected at the top of pent housewith blanketing facility.

    All contractors are fixed for each defined work. Nobidding process.

    They have a 2nd pass coil replacement plan in 6-7 yrsduration in phased manner that cost being added inCAPAX.

    Tube replacement in 2nd pass done by two contractorsone for each side(LHS/RHS).Repair and othermiscellaneous work done by separate group.

    Best practices-----

    Generally very little defects/errosion are found in 1st pass.

    No jet cleaning done in 1st pass.

    Additional spacers are provided in between coils in 2nd passto avoid coil misalignment.

    Before unit going for O/H, CRH,HRH & HPHS safety v/vsTrevi test done to find out their healthiness.

    CRH,HRH & HPHS safety v/v actual floating done after unitstabilization after O/H.

    All MS & DRUM S/V actual floting done followed by Trevi.

    After O/H they carried out one internal & one externalboiler Hydrotest.

    Best practices-----

    Best achieved annual O/H done (2009) in 10days(bar to bar). 154 nos coil was replaced in2nd pass.

    Yr 2010, in U #1, 342 nos coil was replaced in12 days.

    Materials & T&P shifting done 2-3 days before

    S/D. All new coils Air/Steam blowing done before

    O/H.
