What is A Certified NursesAssistant (C.N.A)

A Certified Nurses Assistant (C.N.A) play a key role in in the healthcare field.

• Certified Nurses Assistant (C.N.A’s) work directly under the supervision of a Nurse.

• Certified Nurses Assistant (C.N.A’s) are the considered the frontline in our healthcare system and have direct contact with the patient on a daily basis.

Certified Nurse’s Assistants (C.N.A’s) have direct contact with patients on a daily basis.

They assist with activities such as:

• Dressing the patients• Bathing and skin care• Feeding• Mouth and hair care• Making beds• Toileting assistance and catheter care• Bowel and bladder care• Taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse,

etc.)• Helping patients walk• Assisting with range-of-motion exercises• Helping wheelchair-bound patients using

safe patient handling devices• Turning and positioning bedridden

patients regularly• Reporting all changes to the nurse• Safety awareness• Observing, reporting and documentation• Post-mortem care

Required Training for Certified Nurse’s Assistant in (C.N.A.’s) CT

The Training at Gateway will consist of:

2 weeks of boot camp, Monday, June 06 – Thursday, June 16, 2016.

With the actual class CRN 2217 beginning on Monday, June 20 – Friday, August 26, 2016. Time: 3:30PM – 8:00PM

The program consist of lecturing, skills development (reading and comprehension, math) and clinical training. The program is approved by the State of CT. Concluding with our the completion of the state exam.

The main quality of professionalism would be is to dedicate oneself by doing your very best on the job and providing and maintaining high-quality of service, i.e. “Caring competence” is one way to express the meaning of professionalism in health care.

Why did I Choose Certified Nurse’s Assistant (C.N.A.) as a Career?

Being a Certified Nurse’s Assistant is a Professional as well a Personal decision for me.• All my life giving back has been important to me and I instilled this in

my children. • I Love working with people, mainly those that are not able to do for

themselves. • I respect people of all cultural backgrounds, no matter who they are!• I am trying to re-invent myself on a Professional level also continue in

self development!

• I have had a good life! If I can make a difference in someone’s else’s life then I believe I done my job!
