The Construction Product Regulation The Construction Product Regulation (305/2011/EC), approved by European Parliament and the European Commission, requires CE marking for steel structures, when the product is marketed inside the EU. The regulation is, for example, for products with steel and aluminum structures such as; bridges, catwalks, stairs, railings, masts, towers, non-pressurized tanks, silos, pipelines, piling, crane paths and frames of buildings of various kinds. If there is a valid harmonized standard existing for the product when placing the product on the market, the basic characteris- tics of the products must be presented for CE marking. The harmonized standard for steel structures is EN 1090-1. Affixing the CE marking for the product is subjected to a third party’s (notified body‘s) approval and monitoring of the manufacturer‘s Factory Product Control (FPC). Certificate A Factory Production Control certificate from a notified body can be obtain when: > The notified body finds a company‘s production to be in accordance with the standards EN 1090-1 (conformity assessment) and EN 1090-2 (steel structures, technical requirements) or EN 1090-3 (aluminum structures, technical requirements). > The company has implemented Factory Production Control according to EN 1090-1.
