EWAI Corporation– Non-Load Bearing 1 Hr and 2 Hr Fire Rated Plaster Board Shaft Wall and Drywall Partitions Comprising Gyproc boards and Gypframe and A-Metal studs and tracks

1. This approval relates to the use of the above partitions in providing a fire resistance performance of up to 120 minutes insulation, and integrity, as defined in BS 476: Part 22: 1987.

2. As these constructions have been tested following the requirements of the ASTM E119-12a; Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, they also show a Fire Resistance Rating as defined in this standard of up to 120 minutes.

3. This certification is designed to demonstrate compliance of the product or system specifically with Approved Document B (England and Wales), Section 2 of the Technical Standards (Scotland), Technical Booklet E (N. Ireland). If compliance is required to other regulatory or guidance documents there may be additional considerations or conflict to be taken into account.

4. The partitions are approved on the basis of:

i) Initial type testing ii) Audit testing at the frequency specified in TS49

iii) A design appraisal against TS49 iv) Inspection and surveillance of factory production control v) Certification of Quality Management Systems to ISO 9001:2008

5. Initial type testing was done using the ASTM E119-12a; Standard Test Methods for Fire

Tests of Building Construction and Materials. The test results were assessed by Exova

Warringtonfire against the requirements of the BS 476: Part 22: 1987.

6. Inspection and surveillance was carried out at the building site where the partitions were

constructed.

7. The non-loadbearing partition assemblies comprise Gyproc building boards fixed onto a

Gypframe or A-Metal metal framing system. 8. The partition assemblies shall be mechanically fixed to wall and floor constructions having

a fire resistance of at least the same period as the partition. 9. The approval relates to ongoing production. The product and/or its immediate packaging is

identified with the manufacturer’s name, the product name or number, the CERTIFIRE name or name and mark, together with the CERTIFIRE certificate number and application where appropriate.

This approval relates to non-loadbearing partition assemblies in terms of the integrity and insulation performance criteria of BS 476: Part 22: 1987.
