Introduction to the Module

This module introduces Business Process Modelling to Financial Services Business Analysts and empowers them with a practical understanding in how to pursue Business Process Modelling in any Business Transformation, Process Integration, System Replacement or Change related projects.

This module develops the skills of a Business Analyst based on Financial Services case studies related to Financial Trading Markets, Banking Payment Schemes, etc. and depicts how Business Process maps can be built using a Process Mapping workshop approach.

At the end of the Module students should be able to practically apply all the techniques and tactic of the workshop approach and develop the capability to build and design Business Process Maps in a financial services environment, relating to any Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office Business IT projects.

Business Process Modelling Definition

A Business Process Model is depicted as a diagram that comprises in User Steps, business rules, stakeholders that are impacted within the scope of the process. Its overall end to end viewpoint is that it simply represents a sequence of business activities

Business Process Models can be categorised in two tiers : “As Is” (Baseline Model) or “To Be” (Target Model)

“As Is” Business Process Model is used to analyse the existing gaps and constrains within the process.

Business Process Models can be developed in Unified Modelling Language Notation (UML) and Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN)
