ENTRY REQUIREMENTSWhen you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have theright pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that youmeet the requirements listed in this section.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Work experience is not mandatory for this qualification, however this is a highly practical course. To get the most out ofyour study, expand your network and get real world experience, we strongly recommend you undertake 72 hours ofwork experience with a suitable industry employer.
You will need to organise your own work experience. If you can't secure work experience, you'll need to complete 72hours of clinic work in an on-campus, TAFE NSW simulated environment. This will happen during your normal class timeon a day nominated by your teacher.
Whether you are enrolled full-time or part-time, it is recommended that you start your work placement one week fromyour course start date.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a full time combination course. You must attend approximately 20 hours of class. You may also be required tocomplete approximately 16 hours of additional study. This may include online tasks, prescribed readings, completion ofTraining record book, revision, private study, assignments.
The course will run 3 days a week for 18 weeks.

WHAT DO THESE PRICES MEAN?
First Qualification Fee
Applies to a student who does not already hold a post-school qualification from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.
Subsequent Qualification Fee
Applies to a student who already holds one or more post-school qualifications from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.
Apprenticeship Fee
Eligible apprentices are exempt from fees when undertaking an apprenticeship under the NSW Government's Fee FreeApprenticeship. For apprentices who are not eligible, apprenticeship qualification fees are capped at $2,000.

Traineeship Fee
Applies to a student undertaking a traineeship qualification under a traineeship pathway, with fees are capped at$1,000.

Concession Fees
Applies to eligible disadvantaged students who receive a specified Commonwealth Government welfare benefit orallowance. Concession fees are discounted, with flat fees applied across a qualification level.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSWGovernment will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Youractual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:
You will be required to purchase equipment/tools of trade and personal protective equipment (PPE) at an approximate cost of $580 -
$650 which you will keep as your own to use in class.

A tunic is required to participate in practical classes at an approximate cost of $80. Total approximate costs = $660-$730.■
